Ponderings on life
Thursday. 2.26.09 1:14 pm
Have you ever wanted to fix someone up with a friend of a friend of yours because they like you and it was just inappropriate? I have and in fact I want to fix this particular small friend of mine, she's only 18 and just this side of jail bait and she's got a big annoying crush on me, which is kind of ruining my life. One of my assistants said that she has a friend that's about this person's age, or at least maturity level, who always, always finds herself with the wrong people. We began to speculate on whether we could actually get them to meet and get them to like each other. My assistant said, even if it doesn't work out maybe they'll learn something.

I wish we could really do that, but the distance thing would be too difficult for them. I really want my friend to find someone who is appropriate and in her age range, because I would be appropriate if I wasn't a decade older than she was.

Have you ever felt like this?

Fellowship that I want
Friday. 11.14.08 11:46 pm
I have decided to apply for the Amy Lowell poetry traveling fellowship but not until 2012 your suppose to leave North America for a year which I thought would be a problem for me because of my PCA services but according to their website you can come back to North America for a short period of time should you need to.

I figure i would just try to schedule my revaluation around the same time as my skills trainer visit maybe i could even combine the two experiences (if I get someone from Stavros to be on side and not rat me out to MassHealth- Massachusetts Medicaid) or maybe i can get an extension or perhaps I will just use the fellowship money to pay someone to be my PCA).

I don't know what I am going to do but I do know I want this fellowship. My biggest problem is convincing my mother that the world wont end if I miss one Christmas (2012) we can have it when I get back!

got money
Thursday. 5.21.09 7:27 pm
Not that I will have it for very long as is always the case with me, but I got my disability bonus payment from the Obama administration. I may dislike the man right now, but I'm not going to refuse his money which means, I suppose, that he can't be all that evil. He just needs to get over all this power hungry bullshit (I'm not sure I can say that word on this website, but I'll try for investigative purposes if nothing else) and get back to his Chicago community organizer roots. Watching what happened to him kind of made me glad I never won any of the offices I ran for.

I think I'm getting a cold which is so bad right now because I'm off to New York City on Wednesday. But I took medicine and my voice is back enough to dictate this with no serious strain to my vocal cords. Let's see. What am I going to spend the money on? Hair stuff (including a hair appointment), bus tickets, printing supplies, and that's about it. If I have enough left over, I'll treat myself to a movie. I really want to see the new Terminator and the latest Night at the Museum. I also need to buy Shannon, my friends daughter, a New York City present I was just informed by her. That little girl is going to get spoiled but after all she's been through she's entitled to be a little spoiled. They have great free kids books at Book Expo America even though she's 13 she reads at a second or third grade level. I'm going to do a little shopping and see if I can find her something interesting for her age range on her reading level.

That's all for now. I will log in before I leave and try to post from New York City so you all know I'm alright. If you're going to Book Expo yourself visit booth 5060 in writer's row. That's me.

I haven't been here in awhile.
Tuesday. 6.23.09 10:58 pm
I haven't been here in awhile. It's true. So, just to catch you all up this is what's been going on. I went to the ER on Sunday again because my leg wouldn't straighten out and other people couldn't get it to straighten out either. Finally, the doctor had to give me a shot of like really hard core pain killer (even harder than the stuff I've been taking) to make it behave. Then, they increased my dosage of pain killer. Every four hours without fail except when I'm sleeping. That's five pills a day sometimes and always four. That's more narcotics than I've ever been on in my whole life. I can't wait to see the orthopedist next week. For the past two days, I've been up and around pretty well and getting work done.

I've decided to try to enter this poetry contest from Pavement Saw Press. Now, my only job is to figure out what I want to send them. It's due by August 15th. I have two months. I really need to get some publication credits in before I apply for the Amy Lowell Fellowship in 2012 which I really feel could make my literary career if I got it. I'm also going to submit to this new radical political poetry magazine I was made aware of. I signed up for another paid to write site, and I'll let you know how it goes. They have a $5.00 signing bonus. The payout is $20.00. I finally made $3.00 here and that's a good thing. Only took me since October, but I haven't really paid as much attention to here as I should have.

In other news, all plans for the extraction of my friend from his house in Tennessee are going well. I guess I'll spend the first week of July in various offices with him getting him services. That's what I was really born to do. I'm just not as good at it as other people. However, as he says he doesn't know the other people but he knows me. I wonder if my friends went through this when they had to do the same thing with me. I really must thank them again if it was this difficult.

Goodnight all. I'll try to check in tomorrow.

I'm better (sort of)
Tuesday. 6.30.09 5:11 pm
Even as I wrote those words, I kept wanting to say, "knock on wood" because I thought this knee was getting better about three times before. After each, it had a nasty relapse. Yesterday, I went to the orthopedist whose name was Dr. Doctor which I find funny and he leaned on my knee in an effort to pop something back in in case it was misaligned. This hurt very much. But, I guess it worked because I can stand up now. I still have some pain but nothing like before. In fact, if I'm really careful and sit very well which is hard in my old chair because it's broken there is no pain in my knee whatsoever. I know this is not the end of this process although I wish it was. Tomorrow, I start physical therapy to try to get my knee back to normal. Well, normal for it which is not normal for everyone else because I have cerebral palsy. But, I'm kind of enthused about the whole process. I might actually be able to go to my college reunion picnic and, more importantly to me, my honorary niece's dance recital.

But just when everything health wise was looking up, other things in my life started to go wrong. Of course! One, a website I work for accused me of plagiarizing which I've never done and never would do. Two, one of my assistants needed the rest of the week off as she's being evicted. Three, another one of my assistants possibly has pneumonia. Four, the company that pays my assistants mistakenly, they say, confused one person's time sheet with another person's and paid one person twice and the other person not at all. Now, they have to go in the first women's account and retrieve the second person's money. I'm having them send me copies of the timesheets in question to make sure this is what really happened because I have a suspicion that it is not due to the fact that the first person, who's very honest and I've never had a problem with, didn't tell me about it. I'm sure she would have if she had gotten a double paycheck. I think that maybe they are just claiming that that happened when what really happened was that they forgot to put in the second person's time sheet at all. We'll see what we see.

Today is also the day of finding lost things. I found my writing notebook, four missing library books, and an extra box of gloves that my assistants use to take care of me. I'm supposed to be getting a new shipment of gloves tomorrow, but I don't know as my supplies has not been that forthright in the past.

Why does it seem that when one thing works out, another or several others, goes awry? At least I'm glad that some of my assistants can cover the times when others need help.
