NuTang
July 8th, 2007NuTang.com - the Ultimate Weblog Community
Another good idea, that could be improved.
NuTang is a blog site that allows users to collect money based on how popular their blog is. The siteās revenue is generated by Yahoo ads, at the bottom of the page. If your blog is viewed a lot, you generate more money.
NuTang is invite only, so unless you know someone who has a journal there, good luck getting a code. Not that itās a big loss. I have been using it for a couple of weeks, (a few posts here and there) and it appears to be exactly like every other blog site you could use, and possibly even lacking in some style points. There arenāt very many templates, and unless you know their proprietary code, then you are wasting your time by making your own.
The money you āearnā is a very small amount. In roughly a month, Iāve made 26 cents. So, if you are thinking of joining the site based on that detail, donāt. You canāt even cash out until youāve made at least $20.
The community itself, seems to be comprised of rather intelligent people. There are, as with any community, a few morons here and there, but overall, good people. The āInfamous Shoutboxā gives you some added exposure, as long as you are active on the site, and can keep up with what scrolls through there.
The ability to recommend posts allows the other readers to make your posts more āfavorableā and possibly gain enough momentum to get onto the front page.
Overall, NuTang seems to be just another blogging site, that is lacking in features that the big boys have, such as detailed templates, and a larger following. The unique feature that would entice someone to join, doesnāt generate enough money to warrant leaving your current blog behind.
- 2 out of 5 for design
- 3 out of 5 for features
- 4 out of 5 for stability
- 3 out of 5 overall

NuTang is relatively new, about 2 months old. I still have yet to receive a Anyway, any criticism feeback is appreciated.... thanks in advance! :D -dave RunOfTheMill 08-19-2001, 04:45 PM wow very graphically intense but very purrrrty! 7.5/10 Goodjob Work these forums to get clients, post in the special offers forum. List yourself on engines. Advertise Locally. Tell your friends and co-workers to sign up! Its a start coolguy23 08-19-2001, 05:32 PM that is a nice site! can you please indicate which steve 08-19-2001, 05:59 PM Maybe (?) the reason for lack of customers is the fact that it looks more like a web design site than a hosting site, which tend to be more conservative in appearance (photo of man standing next to uninteresting hardware, etc, etc). Therefore it's too much overload for people looking for hosting? Rgds Vinh 08-19-2001, 10:23 PM The Lonny 08-19-2001, 10:53 PM Looks good.. actually too good, more like a web designer's page than a hosting company.. remember your visitors ar looking for hosting not design determinist 08-20-2001, 02:08 AM As for a web hosting company.. emm.. pardon for being frank, it looks more like a personal homepage to me, especially when i saw forums such as "Relationships", "Asia Pop" on your business site, kind of weird but who knows your customer might like it.. a new generation host? (SH)Saeed 08-20-2001, 02:20 AM It is a good looking website, but totally wrong for a webhosting company. At first I thought it was a personal portfolio site for a webdesigner. The webhosting link is a small font 1 link in the menu and the domain made me think it was a wutang fan site or something. I'm not going to get into the other stuff (i.e. forums) as they have been pointed out earlier in this thread. TIP: Get a new more webhosting related domain. You don't need to get a domain that has "hosting" in it, but at least nothing that remind if a hip hop (rap?) group. Make a totally new website that is a lot more simple, clean and that looks a lot more boring (business like). Only have webhosting/development related forums in your message board. That's all I can think of right now. Good luck. ho247 08-20-2001, 09:02 AM I agree with Mr. Amazon. The domain comepletely doesnt sound like a hosting company. The site design is very nice, I'm not a fan of flash, but I like to see nice looking flash sites :). If you created that site yourself, you should concentrate in the web design industry, rather than try and fail in the web hosting market :D. While in a sub page, I think you shouldshow the text for each green button link. I know you're using the ALT to display what the link is, but sometimes people don't wait for the ALT tag to show up, some people might not even see the green circles as a button to your other pages. You can find an area on the left and make an image change with the section name on it, as the mouse moves over the green cricle. dtang 08-20-2001, 04:29 PM Thanks a lot for the feedback. The reason I designed the site like I did is 'cause my site also offers web design. I will actually make most of my money through the web design, since I'm a reseller. When I bought domain nutang.com, I just was thinking of something different and easy to remember. I'm gonna modify the design I have now for nutang, keeping in mind all your suggestions. i agree, the navigation is a bit poor, and more on the abstract, than conservative side. After I'm finished, I'll put a link in this topic again. I hope you will all repost suggestions and criticisms. ;) Some more questions: do you think it would help if i offered webdesign/hosting special packages? e.g. 50 percent of web design with purchase of any hosting deals. Also, how competitive do you think my prices are? This is actually about as low as I can offer, since I resell. For the forums, I will remove the forums to the other sites. >> coolguy23 I used macromedia fireworks4. Thanks again for the feedback! :D -dave edude 08-22-2001, 11:58 PM Great site, i don't like the colours though, to bright. 6/10 mithilesh 08-23-2001, 08:27 PM Great site designing.I suggest that you should also start the webdesign business. Best of luck. |
