After a while, you learn the subtle difference
between holding a hand and chaining a soul,
And you learn that love doesn't mean leaning
And company doesn't mean security,
And you begin to learn that kisses aren't contracts
And presents aren't promises,
And you begin to accept your defeats
With the grace of a woman,
not the grief of a child,
And learn to build all your roads on today
Because tomorrow's ground is too uncertain for plans,
And futures have a way of falling down in mid-flight
And after a while, you learn
That even sunshine burns if you get too much.
So you plant your own garden
and decorate your own soul,
Instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers.
And you learn that you really can endure...
That you really are strong
And you really do have worth
And you learn
and learn...
With every goodbye, you learn.
- Learn With Every Goodbye, Veronica A. Shoffstall

nothing spells happiness better than a day off work, lounging around in comfy cotton short shorts and cashing in a cheque for a fairly large amount.
Yep. Today was definitely one of those goooooood days.
also went for dinner with family friends tonight at some chinese restaurant in chatswood. from how crowded it was you'd guess Asians actually enjoy the feeling of being sardines in a can.
i'd forgotten just how raucous the chinese dining experience is. it's an endless soundscape of chattering and clanking plates.
as usual, we chinese let gastronomy do the talking.

here's the silhouette, the face always turned away
the bleeding color gone to black, dying like a day
couldn't figure out what made you so unhappy
shook your head to say no, no, no
and stopped for a spell and stayed that way
today she is thinking; how can so many weeks of absence-induced affection vaporise so fast? wispy fairy floss illusions dancing their own elusive dreams, in smokey cerulean and boysenberry red.
so it comes, and like the winter sun, slinks away too fast.

The right time.
The gears click.
The lights glow.
For just one perfect little moment.
Serendipity.
It's like that moment when Katsumoto sees the cherry blossoms dancing in the spring breeze and everything at that point is, as he whispers with his last breathe-
perfect.
life's like that sometimes. you wait and wait and wait until that moment arrives and when it does, you realise how every second was worth the interim.
