The Pensieve
Callahan's Law: Shared pain is lessened; shared joy is increased.

The universe speaks in many languages, but only one voice. The language is not Narn or Human or Centauri or Gaim or Minbari. It speaks in the language of hope."
"It speaks in the language of trust. It speaks in the language of strength and the language of compassion. It is the language of the heart and the language of the soul. But always it is the same voice. It is the voice of our ancestors speaking through us and the voice of our inheritors waiting to be born. The small, still voice that says: 'We are one. No matter the blood, no matter the skin, no matter the world, no matter the star. .. We are one. No matter the pain, no matter the darkness, no matter the loss, no matter the fear. .. We are one.' Here, gathered together in common cause, we begin to realize this singular truth and this singular rule that we must be kind to one another. Because each voice enriches us and ennobles us and each voice lost diminishes us. We are the voice of the universe, the soul of creation, the fire that will light our way to a better future. We are one."
"We are one."

"They aren't as dreadful as the old cells," Illyan objected mildy. "I remember those. Spent a month under arrest in 'em myself, thirteen years ago." He cast a slightly sour smile at Miles. "Something about the Lord Regent's son's private army, and a certain treason charge."

Besides, DS9 had a captain that was actually likable, a shapeshifting security chief, and a tailor who was once the alien version of James Bond.

"I have come to the conclusion that the dashing young knight, who was supposed to ride in on his snow white horse and sweep me off my feet, has apparently become lost in the forest and is too stubborn to ask for directions."

To all my fellow physics students, may your Hilbert spaces be small and your bosons and pi-mesons be heavy. May your quarks have mass, and your lasers stay cool. May your particle accelerators smash with a vengence, and may your grad students graduate before death. To physics, and beyond!

There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable.

Where are you going, where do you go?
Sunday. 3.27.05 3:06 pm
So, whilst I am avoiding work, an update. For those of you who dont know, I didnt get the RA job. Oh well. Marilyn (my old RA) left, so we have a new one; she is very nice and a good RA. Now Im working on an application for a research program at U of Maryland, but since its not likely to happen, I'll be here in Blacksburg taking summer classes. Sounds fun, huh? (Mayhaps I can come up for a weekend or two and we can hang out.) This means I cant go to Mayfair :( (Its an arts festival in PA)Well, Im looking foreward to seeing everyone at DTG or Revel (or both). And for those of you coming to HHG2G before Revel, don't forget your towel! *grins*

WARNING: RANTING AHEAD
Friday. 2.25.05 12:44 am
WARNING! This is a rant. If you do not like ranting, if people who rant annoy the frell out of you, DO NOT READ THIS. Go read a nice and happy entry. Otherwise, read on. THUS ENDETH THE WARNING.

Sorry, guys, if I havent been in the best of moods lately...I've just been really stressed. Between schoolwork, the RA interviews, and now writing and sending off my cover letter/resume to a prof here at VT....I hate it. Im always so nervous, trying to be all "professional", and trying to convince people to hire me, and yet being "individual". I feel like such a loser....Okay, okay, I know that's not an excuse, since I'm *always* stressed, but I just want to say a big *thanks* for putting up with me and my "issues". I wish I didn't worry so much, but I really do try...anyway, spring break is in a week (Thank God!), and so I'm just trying to hang on until then. As if after break is gonna be any better. Heh...I can wish. Gorramit, enough with this rant. Faith Manages. Or so I keep trying to convince myself.

I am the very model of the modern major general...
Thursday. 2.10.05 9:56 am
...or maybe I'm just an overworked college student. *sighs* Well, to those expecting me to be at University, sorry 'bout that, but the bus to UVa wasnt running that weekend...I hope everyone had a good time who went. On the academic front, I totally bombed my dynamics test, but I think my deforms test went better (and its gonna be curved). So now I'm working on dynamics (again....I am begining to detest Newton's Second Law :)), plus I have a take home test for materials. Otherwise, things are looking up, I suppose...got the RA interview, and am workng on applications for summer internships. Hope everyone is doing alright in school and stuff. I really should go and get some food, so see ya. One last question: Who is gonna be at Defending the Gate?

Well...on the bright side, I made it through the "paper cut" for the RA position...which on the dark side, means Im not heading to Ice Axe. *sighs* I was up late last night working on homework as usual, and now I get a break before my research class...and then I get to cram for dynamics test at 7pm. Wish me luck :) May the Force be with you, always.

Ice Castles and other stuff
Monday. 1.24.05 8:13 pm
I havent updated in a while, so I thought I would do so (Translation: I don't want to work on the piles of homework I have). So I went to Ice Castles (major winter event here in the Barony of Black Diamond). Jen (my roomie) came along as well, and we had a good time. I didn't know near as many people, but it was still cool. We watched rapier fighting most of the day. At one point, the audience got to request what we wanted to see the fighters fight with. Which is how one of the fighters ended up with the Bunny With The Big Teeth as an offhand weapon, and I think there was some mention of a "Hubcap of Doom", otherwise known as a buckler. Between that and the royals catapulting candy and bread from high table at feast...ok, so it was the usual SCAdian insanity. Now I'm working on getting a ride to University. It looks like I may be late, but hopefully I will still be able to make it. Cuse I really, really, really want to take the Thrown Weapons class; we have none here in BD :( Well, I should really get to working on homework (again), or I may just end up reading my current book, which happens to be Saint Camber, for anyone who cares :) Zhai'helleva.
