I am a Health Educator living in the United States. One of my jobs is to teach people of all ages and religious backgrounds to protect themselves from HIV infection. I also advocate for funding that will help find better treatments and one day, God willing, a cure for this disease.

As both a health educator and I person concerned with global healthcare justice, including for the people of Iran, I urge you to reconsider the imprisonment of the of Alaei brothers, renounced Iranian AIDS researchers. The brothers were not attempting to communicate with an enemy government; they were talking to other AIDS researchers. Attempting to end a global plague that affects every person on the planet, either directly or indirectly, is no crime. No one should sentenced to die for doing it. The Alaei brothers deserve the praise of their government; not it�s punishment.

They�re going to kill them. The AIDS doctors; I mean. According to the Short, Sharp Science blog posted yesterday. I�m outraged. I�m going to do something. I just don�t know what that something is. Any ideas, folks? I�m calling and faxing the government of Iran on Monday. I never did it the first time (sorry to admit, although I told tons of over folks, too and think many did; I was just too ill and sore). However, now I�m better and really going to help stick it to the Iranian government. I hope you will all help me, by phoning, faxing, and forwarding to your networks. Tell them why you are calling � something along the lines of, �I want to voice my objection to the trial of the Alaei brothers, on the basis that you have to communicate with other researchers if you want to cure AIDS.�

I am also going to conduct my own fax zap; and this time I really will do it, For people who don�t know what that means, it means either doing it yourself with your own personal fax machine or paying someone $20 or so to repeatedly send the same fax to the same number. Yesterday, I went to bed very early for me. It was midnight exactly. I was determined to get up and go to my therapy appointment but at 10am (even after almost ten hours of sleep as I woke up very little which is also rare for me) I couldn't summon the energy to get out of bed. Tomorrow it's off to the doctor, and I don't even care if what they have to do to me hurts. I'm just going to sit there until they come up with something to make me feel better. I keep thinking I can beat this. That I can just decide to feel better, but it's not working so far. I'm so annoyed I could spit which my momma told me ladies don't do.

I went to the doctor's. They took 8 tubes of blood (ouch!). I was tested for 14 different things (most of which I could deal with; one of which, lime disease, I really don't want). The results will back on Wednesday or, at latest Thursday. I don't care what's wrong with me; I just want it fixed. I couldn't get to the bank today, although I tried and I had to miss a speaking engagement for the first time in my life, at least I called ahead.

I deleted an entry here accidentally, which made me angry. I had a doctor's appointment at 2:30. They took about 8 tubes of blood; they are going to run 14 tests. Everything they tested for I could deal with having, accept for lime disease and diabetes (love my chocolate), but most of the test were mineral and vitamin deficiencies. Now big deal there; just another pill. I just know I can't go on feeling like this. Even typing this entry is hard. I keep making tedious mistakes.
