Its official. Im going to be working at Coach next Monday. Im excited! How it all came about was a little stressful though. I started work today at 12, but before I left I got a text from Chad saying that he needs a decision from me today (I was planning on making a decision today anyway). So I went about my work day thinking about which job I want (my original plan was to work at BR in downtown TO and then work Coach on weekends, but it is a conflict of interest since BR sells handbags and messenger bags). I talked with a friend of mine who stopped in to exchange some stuff and we had a lovely lunch outside and discussed the pros and cons of each job. Talking with her really made me realize how much I enjoy working at BR but also how much of a poor college student I am. Im sure Coach will be a fantastic place to work at as well.

At 6, I talked with my general manager about my dilemma and ended up handing in my resignation on good terms. All that is left now is to work my remaining shifts until next Monday and then I am free to work at Coach. To top it off, we had Californias Sandwiches for dinner. So good.

I tried to record some vocals today but it didnt work out. I do have a piano track laid down for once song though. I also have a reggae version of Corinne Bailey Raes Like A Star that I may put up at some point. It needs some tweaking before I release it to the internets. Stay tuned!

Becoming Pretty
Sunday, August 10, 2008
I've made the move from Wordpress to here because I like the idea of having a website that can hold my songs, a blog and whatever else I want on here. Plus I can customize way more stuff on this than I can anywhere else (for free!).

It isn't much to look at yet, but I hope to have this space fully functional this week. In the mean time, I'll continue to update my Wordpress until I'm all set here.

Check back soon, and check back often!

Stares all around
Saturday August 30, 2008
Today was, as you all know, the day I went to preform at the Ben Navaee Gallery. I met the man himself and he remarked at how early I was (it was only 10 minutes... but I do enjoy my punctuality). I set up and played for 2 hours. There was clapping in the beginning because there were not a lot of people in the gallery, but by 4:30 there was about 35 people in a small space drinking champagne out of little plastic goblets and admiring these paintings. I didn't put out a tip jar or anything, so no money was made. But I did meet a very cool artist named Serge (I'm too lazy to look up his last name right now... it was on the poster). Plus everyone was very impressed with me (I knew I should of printed out business cards). Mr. Navaee told me that he needed performers for Nuit Blanche (an art festival held in TO every year) and he would love it if I performed. I told him I'd think about it. Who knows what I'll be doing then?

After my performance I headed over to Earl's in Square One to meet up for drinks with my co-workers. It was so much fun! Afterwards I hung out with one of the stock workers and we had bubble tea at this randomly packed Korean bubble tea place... it wasn't bad, but I could tell they used powder instead of syrup (sad face). But they had tiny tapioca bubbles instead of the huge ones, which was a bit different. All in all, it was a lovely social event. A few of us are planning on going to Montreal at some point for fun. Maybe for my birthday...

When I got home I felt hyper, so I recorded a video of me performing Blackwinged Bird on the piano and singing. There are two versions: a full proper version and a half version that ends with the light tipping over. I decided to post both of them because... why not? Tried to record another song after and it wasn't working out, so I'm not going to push my luck.

Tomorrow I'm working from 12-6, then I have Monday off (labour day!) and I'm going to be helping a friend for a Frosh event at the U of T in the morning. I'm going to get up early tomorrow so I can apply for a bunch of auditions during the week. Non-stop action.

The morrow next
Monday, September 1, 2008
Tomorrow I am going to the University of Toronto to help a friend of mine initiate some new students into the U. I've never been to U of T, so this should be interesting. I'm going to be scanning barcodes and being merry. At 6:30 AM. Bring it!

I didn't do much for Labour Day... just lazed around the house, practiced piano and japanese, assisted my parental units in cleaning up the back room so I can switch bedrooms, and created a business card template for myself. Hmm. After writing it all down, it does seem like a lot. Feels good to do something.

This post is very goody two shoes eh? Wonder where that expression comes from...

What did you guys do for Labour Day?

Life is busy
Tuesday, September 9, 2008
Don't you hate it when you type an entry only to lose it when the Internet decides to fail and close your window? Anyway, sorry I haven't been updating. I've been working a lot and by the time I get home I don't feel like updating my blog. However, the guilt has set in and I must keep on top of it! So here I am.

My job is lovely. The people are fabulous, the hours are great, the customers like me and I'm doing well in sales. As for my other job as a musician, that is starting to take off. I've got some online profiles, some songs done and an audition with a band this weekend. They need a keys and back-up vocalist. We'll see where that goes.

Tomorrow I'm off to Toronto to be in the audience for a taping of CityLine (for those that don't know what that is, it's a popular morning Toronto television show). My friend/co-worker got free tickets and asked me if I wanted to come. So I'm going to bring my guitar with me so I can busk in the streets after. Why not?

I should get some sleep now so I will look my best for the few brief seconds that the camera is on my face while it pans around to the guest host. Night!
