Its official. Im going to be working at Coach next Monday. Im excited! How it all came about was a little stressful though. I started work today at 12, but before I left I got a text from Chad saying that he needs a decision from me today (I was planning on making a decision today anyway). So I went about my work day thinking about which job I want (my original plan was to work at BR in downtown TO and then work Coach on weekends, but it is a conflict of interest since BR sells handbags and messenger bags). I talked with a friend of mine who stopped in to exchange some stuff and we had a lovely lunch outside and discussed the pros and cons of each job. Talking with her really made me realize how much I enjoy working at BR but also how much of a poor college student I am. Im sure Coach will be a fantastic place to work at as well.

At 6, I talked with my general manager about my dilemma and ended up handing in my resignation on good terms. All that is left now is to work my remaining shifts until next Monday and then I am free to work at Coach. To top it off, we had Californias Sandwiches for dinner. So good.

I tried to record some vocals today but it didnt work out. I do have a piano track laid down for once song though. I also have a reggae version of Corinne Bailey Raes Like A Star that I may put up at some point. It needs some tweaking before I release it to the internets. Stay tuned!

Can you get my mom a bag? Maybe then she'll stop hinting that I should buy her one for Christmas.

Right, like I can afford one on a grad student's budget... Paper bags, however, I can do...

i think i'm not going to record my vocal for some time .. i still have some trauma after listening to my own singing 'my immortal'.

Moms and Expensive Purses
I'm quite sure every mom is going to want a bag now. I don't know what kind of a discount I get, but I would assume it's pretty good. Have to get people to represent outside of the company somehow.

Paper bags can make great gifts, as long as you decorate it with love!

Vocals
I'd like to hear that trauma some day. You keep talking about it like it's so terrible. I'm sure that those lessons are paying off and you're sounding better every time.

Funny, I live in California and I've never heard of California's Sandwiches. :P

It's a Toronto/GTA thing. We also have California Rolls (as in the sushi). Do you guys have anything Canadian down there? Maple syrup perhaps?
» eroosterton on 2008-08-12 11:53:35

Okay, can I just say something about Canadian maple syrup? Once, eons ago (by which I mean, when I was in high school), I visited Montreal. One of my clearest memories--besides immaturely giggling whenever I saw "poussez" on the doors to any business--was tasting what I assume to be authentic Canadian maple syrup. Hoooooly shit, syrup was never the same since.

Things that are Canadian that we have in California: maple syrup, bacon, Molson beer, Celine Dion CDs (my mom's, leftover from the early 90s), several people I went to college with, and Degrassi. Did I miss anything? No, I think that's about it.

Canadiana
I love maple syrup. I don't know how people live with "table syrup". The hell is that? Aunt Jemima may make good pancakes but her syrup isn't anything like the real stuff. Tee hee, poussez. Did you get the chance to have it in tire (pronounced tear, like crying) form? That's when they take maple syrup and pour it on snow and then you get to roll it up on a popsicle stick and eat it. Best way to have maple syrup. EVER.

Ha, Celine Dion. When I was living in Quebec for 3 months, her new CD Taking Chances had just come out. It was all I heard the whole time I was there. They love her a little too much.

You guys don't have Smarties down there, eh? Just M&Ms, right?

» eroosterton on 2008-08-12 07:48:56

No Smarties of the variety of which you speak, just these nasty tart powder-y tablet things that look a bit like pharmaceuticals that every kid seems to get for Halloween.

Unfortunately, I did not get to try any tire d'rable (it sounded interesting so I decided to Google it, haha) but if I ever find myself somewhere in the north during the snowy season, I will have to try it. And I know it isn't the same, but maybe I'll just have shave some ice and do it myself... if I can find some suitable syrup.

Your stuff = Our stuff?
The nasty tart powdery things? If you mean Necco Wafers... that would be you guys I think. If you mean Rockets... that's us. Our Rockets are your Smarties. However, our Smarties are not your Smarties. Our Smarties are like your M&Ms. I think Rockets (US Smarties) taste pretty good... but not the "tropical" flavour. I agree that those suck.
» eroosterton on 2008-08-12 09:08:17

Nope, no Neccos here on the West Coast. I think it's more of an East Coast thing. I can't take our Smarties anymore... I used to like them, but I think I outgrew them. They used to be among my favorites because they looked so much like pills--or what I thought pills should look like. It was easy to scare mom that way. :P
» ranor on 2008-08-12 09:18:45

The child you liked pills eh? Do you like taking drugs now? lol
