I've never really had good luck with money or jobs, and until very recently, I was unemployed for like, 3 months. I currently have a job that I love to bits and pieces but it's only part-time, and I can't get any more hours than I am already given. This means that I don't get benefits.

My mom can't put me on hers anymore because I am almost 20 and it's pretty self explanitory. My dad doesn't even have insurance because he's self-employed, so no luck for me there either. But I NEVER get sick so why should I worry?

Oh, wait. I got tonsilitis TWICE in less than a year and a half. I had to go to the walk-in clinic (the ONLY place on this retarded planet that will see patients without insurance) like, five times, and each time it was one hundred fucking dollars. Both times I suffered through this illness it was like, two weeks I was out of work, so I was barely scraping by with the rent, and I owe old roomies a lot of money for that particular situation.

I didn't think about the insurance thing until a few months ago when my late pet rat (R.I.P) bit my finger and I got a really horrible infection. My stepmom paid for the whole shabang; Doctors, meds, bandages, and soft blankies that make sick people feel better through fleecy magical properties. It was a truckload of money, and I felt terrible that she shelled out so much cash on my poor-ass behalf. After I was all healed I thought that I wouldn't have to worry about anything else. Afterall, I hardly ever have health problems.

Oh, wait.

So, my wisdom teeth have been creeping their way up through my gums for the last couple months, but it didn't bug me cause they didn't hurt. Things have taken a nasty turn, though.

My teeth are growing crooked because of the crowding, and now I'm getting random headaches and eating anything other than soup makes me want to go bang my head into a wall. I'm THIS CLOSE to finding my dad's old power drill and doing the job myself.

Anyone seen Castaway? Ice skates and a rock. You know where I'm going with this.

I hate that the things that people need the most cost the most. I understand supply and demand, but why the hell should it apply to things we need fore ven a basic level of quality of life?

Bottom line, I hate being poor.

I am a huge LOTR nerd, and last year I started a 40"x54" map of middle earth on my bedroom wall, but only got like, 1/15th of the way done.

Yesterday I kicked it into high-gear and cranked out some progress. Now I have the full grid done, and half the outline of the mythical landmass. :)

I'm just drawing it in pencil for now, and I bought black and brown Prismacolour markers for the final outline. I can't decide if I want to leave the ocean areas white, or use a watered-down acrylic to color it in. Hmmm...

Once I'm finished I'm going to write in Sindarin elvish which map I copied, and from which book. I'm also thinking of doing an elvish-script border around the ceiling.
