I am a huge LOTR nerd, and last year I started a 40"x54" map of middle earth on my bedroom wall, but only got like, 1/15th of the way done.

Yesterday I kicked it into high-gear and cranked out some progress. Now I have the full grid done, and half the outline of the mythical landmass. :)

I'm just drawing it in pencil for now, and I bought black and brown Prismacolour markers for the final outline. I can't decide if I want to leave the ocean areas white, or use a watered-down acrylic to color it in. Hmmm...

Once I'm finished I'm going to write in Sindarin elvish which map I copied, and from which book. I'm also thinking of doing an elvish-script border around the ceiling.

It all comes back to me now. I think Kelsey Heyd once told me you had a healthy addiction to LOTR, and I have no idea how you were brought up in the conversation, but this was 8th grade so pretty much anything can happen.

I know I'm a terrible person for saying this, but I like the LOTR movies better than the books. I tried reading the books long ago, but the style just didn't suit me. Besides, I like spectacle better than anything else. I happen to be somewhat of a LOTR nerd as well, though much more on the DL about it lol. I have Riders of Rohan and Into the West on my iPod, and I can play most of the Two Towers soundtrack on the piano. Doh! Nerd alert.

And definitely color in the oceans.

Cool! I would love to see the end product of it. I'm yet to watch LOTR.. I think I watched part of the first or second movie.. Not very sure. Anyway, do colour the oceans.
