I only hope that my 40's will be better than my 30's were...god, my 30's sucked! I think I can name all the good things on one hand...hmm lets see:

Now, I realize that the majority of the people here at NuTang are young enough to be my kids, so I wasn't surprised to see this on one of the home pages: "help me pay for my college education".

Thing with me is, my son Jeff is going to college in the fall, and he's now applying for scholarships and grants and stuff. We're not going to do the financial aid stuff unless we absolutely have to. And since they have raised the tuition at the two schools that Jeff is considering (or rather, they're considering him), I'm going to need all the help I can get to pay for it.

What's next? A "bumpah stickah" (really missing life in New England right now) that says, "My kid and my money go to [insert name of college here]" ?

Right now, my kid, and eventually my money, will be going to college in Oklahoma, since he is a resident. He really had his heart set on a California school, though. He's applied to three in the University of California system that I am aware of. If one of them could offer Jeff a four year scholarship, that would be ideal. It's unlikely, of course...Jeff is a "B" student who has had to work very hard to achieve that. Pretty damned impressive for a kid with ADD if you ask me (and I know you didn't).

We'll see what happens here in the next few months...

Woohoo!!!

Snow in Oklahoma is something only a gal who used to live in Massachusetts would love. I grew up in Southern California, and I had never seen snow fall until I was almost 20 years old. I had to move to Illinois to see that, however (my ex was in the Navy and was stationed at Great Lakes. My oldest son was born there in December 1983).

Maybe Jeff will get a snow day yet!

God, the snow is gorgeous!

JC= my newly engaged buddy Jeff. He lives in Massachusetts.

Jeff= my number 2 son, who will be 18 in March. Sometimes I'll refer to him as Jeffrey in posts where I mention JC as Jeff.

Stef= that's me! :)

Daniel= number 1 son, age 20. Sometimes known as Dan.

Scott= number 3 son, age 12 (13 in May). Will prolly be taller than me by the time he is 13.

Marc= number 4 son, age 10. Sometimes known as Marco.

Amalia= my niece, age 5 (on Feb 18th).

Joey= my nephew, will be 1 on 3/31

Tori= my sister. I have nothing nice to say about her at the moment.

Dean= my brother in law

Mom= well, duh! My mother.

Jon= my lazy, selfish, irresponsible ex husband who lives in Massachusetts and has two of my cats (he lost the third one, and I'm still pissed off about that!)

Saon= my "on again, off again" boyfriend who lives in Louisiana. We are currently "off", because he decided that his alleged ex wife deserved another chance.

Michele= Saon's alleged ex wife (read: they're not divorced, but he swore the last time they split he wouldn't take her back). Also known in these posts as the "Ice Bitch" (she's from Minnesota, don'tcha know?)

Paul= my former landlord and current friend. He lives in New Hampshire.

He sent me an email yesterday telling me this (so that's why he's been so busy lately! LOL). He and his fiancee, Kelly, will be married in August. I've never met Kelly, but she must be a very special person.

If I get an invite to the wedding, I'm not so sure I'd go. One, I may not have the money to go to Mass., and two, JC and I once had some very strong feelings for one another, and I don't want to mess things up between him and Kelly. I'm sure some of JC's friends would take one look at me and go "why?" True, I'm not supermodel thin (i'm what would be called a BBW), but I am reasonably attractive, and JC saw that when we met. He saw beyond the shape of my body and the rather large bosom that comes with it. He stimulates my mind more that anything at this point. He always has something to say that makes me think. It's nice to have an intellectual friend (and a devastatingly handsome one at that! LOL), even if he does live 1700 miles and a time zone away and is engaged to be married.

Way to go, JC!!! I am so thrilled for him!

SB Halftime: I hate Justin Timberlake (and boy bands in general)...I almost turned it off before he "accidently" caused Janet (who I've always liked) to flash the crowd. She definitely wasn't expecting THAT to happen, as evidenced by her reaction.
The Winnahs!: Congrats to the Pats!! Can I come back to Boston now? Please?
