Break out the Pepto Bismal. "Irreplaceable" has remained the number song in the country for 10 straight weeks.
I definitely don't have anything against lil mama and her success. Y'all know that. It's just that when any song has that long of a run it gets nauseating.
To left, to the left.
But it's like one of them gruesome car accidents. You kinda can't look away.
The AEC/ASCAP luncheon at the Beverly Hilton honored Sheryl Lee Ralph, Chris Brown and Common.
Londell McMillian did the damn thing as usual having Shaun Robinson host the event.
I was on the red carpet trying to get my interview thang on... you know... try to see how the shit is done and try to get some face time with these celebrity peeps.
It's a hard thing y'all. I mean, I just lil ole Soulman. I was slapped on the carpet right in between Access Hollywood and Entertainment Weekly. It was like WTF? I wasn't getting any love, lol. Eurweb was up on the piece near me too.
Ciara was coming down the carpet and everyone wanted a piece of her. Me too. Her publicist was pulling her down the carpet and into the event that had already began. I had connected eyes with CiCi and asked if she had a moment for SOHH.com.
Her publicist was like sorry we don't have time, but CiCi insisted that she at least give a brother a few seconds to get a question in.
She even waited til my videographer fumbled and and stirred about trying to get his digital camera set for her to pose for stills.
Those of you familiar know that was pretty generous when you aren't like MTV News or some shit like that.
SHOUT OUT TO CIARA! Her fuckin' with me on the red carpet made a few peeps pay attention which got Soulman quite a few other hook ups that day. Good looking out.
I also wanna show love to Jimmy Cozier, who showed a lot of love to SOHH.com this weekend in L.A.
Rodney Jerkins was there. He confirmed that HE IS NOT ON BRANDY's NEW ALBUM!
Common was there. He showed love to SOHH.com.
Byron Cage and his wife Sonya should love as well.
These events are a trip, 'cause you'd be surprised how many people come in, walk the red carpet, pose for photos and walk right out never even bothering to go into the event.
Ladies It's Not To Late, Lloyd Still Wants You To Be His Valentine!!
Friday. 2.16.07 12:03 pm
My good friend and fellow collaborator SOHH Soul Man is doing BIG things over on his blog. If you haven’t stopped by to check out the new and improved SOHH SOULFUL blog, you need to. He just got back from the Grammy’s and will have everything Grammy related up on his blog momentarily.
He’s also just posted a contest for all the female fans of Atlanta’s most popular R&B singer, Lloyd. In accordance with his upcoming album, “Street Love,” due out in March he's released a new single titled “My Valentine.” Check out more information below.
SOHH GYANT'S DOWNLOAD OF THE DAY- LLOYD'S "MY VALENTINE"
Toni Braxton went from filing a $10 Million lawsuit against Barry Hankerson, to re-filing her lawsuit at the state level to settling her case with Hankerson and Blackground Records altogether. http://www.sohh.com/articles/article.php/10813
All to find out what we suspected all along.
IT WAS KERI'S FAULT!!!!!!
According to the New York Daily News, Barry Hankerson blamed all Toni's woes on her overbearing Mint Condition husband Keri Lewis.
"It was a terrible experience for us," Hankerson told us of working with the singer on his label Blackground Records. "We had to work through her husband to get things done, and it was really tough for us."
"She was with the best hitmakers in the world, but she infused another person in the mix," continued Hankerson. "Look at the back of the albums. All of a sudden you start seeing this new name. You couldn't get to Toni or offer her a song."
Braxton's rep replied: "[Hankerson's] continuing to blame Toni's husband for everything except Hurricane Katrina is both untrue and unfounded."
Now how many of you didn't guess that a lot of this had to do with her husband. Ever since she let him touch her music, she's been damaged goods. Note the decline in sales from when he first showed up... right around The Heat.
Toni and Keri seem happy and committed in their marriage and God bless that, however since everyone feels like Whitney Houston's My Love Is Your Love was so hip hop influenced because of Bobby Brown and now that they've separated she's consorting with music royalty again and not just Cherelle.... should Toni wait til she gets divorced to record again?
Is that what it will take to get another good album out of her? Yea yea she's never been horrible... but the quality of the music went down hill after Secrets. Say whatcha will.
