l'océan pacifique Uncyclopedii Forum Fâché | Mmm, the taste of.. metaphor? Sunday. 7.30.06 5:04 pm Twas a hot and sweaty day and above all a Friday. Let me tell you, Fridays are something else, something different Kind of like vanilla coco puffs. maybe. okay maybe not. My point is that Fridays have gained a new found respect in my mind beyond the mere fleeting termination of school. Indeed the Friday can be more, especially the second and last Friday of the month. These Fridays are home to a little pocket of time where magic is tangible. Kind of like a vanilla coco puff. Okay maybe not. I’m really being far to lofty in my writing when all I want to say is Critical Mass is a pretty good bike ride. Not as sheer amazing as Midnight Ridazz but good nonetheless. On Saturday I had yet another little adventure, this one not through space but TIME!! Well really all I did was go to a retrospective one of my parent’s artist-friends was holding and I watched some old videos where I could see me as wee little lad with a mop top and tee shirts from those kiddy environmental magazines. The event sucked though… especially in the beginning when there was some lame art band with their lame incompressible lyrics, lack of rhythm and any other redeeming qualities. The just straight up sucked. Then there was some crazy guy on guitar. And by crazy I do not mean crazy good, I mean crazy insane crazy crazy mental hospital crazy. Yeah that was creepy. Then finally there was a decent band that played some off shoot of rock with good bass I always enjoy good bass. At this point all of the scene kids emerged out of thin air and started dancing which was good wholesome fun [to watch]. Soon I realized I was stuck in the scene capital of Los Angeles. Oh well, the scene kids know what’s up because holy crap I had some of the best sushi in the world at this restaurant near by. Damn that was good. They this like ball of finely cut avocado with a perfectly textured something inside that was just amazing with this tasty sauce on the outside. I really lack the ability to describe this. I just say it was some good eating. Comment! Saturday. 9.16.06 10:49 pm Today in the LA times there was an article, smack in the middle of the California section, about the elephant in the living room. It said it was painted from head to toe in a decorative red and gold pattern which apparently is a big no-no for animal rights activists. But the permit could not be revoked because, before removing the elephant, LA county would have to give the elephant's housers a 5 day notice and in 3 days it will already be gone. --------------------------------------------------------- There's an elephant in the room The fact is that life isn't getting any fairer. 1.7 billion people have no access to clean drinking water. 20 billion people live below the poverty line. Every day hundreds of people are made physically sick by morons at art shows telling them how bad the world is but never actually doing something about it. Anybody want a free glass of wine? --------------------------------------------------------- It turns out that, though the elephant was fun and all, there was really a lot more to be interested about. It was just an eleborate ploy to get bored Los Angeles off of its uncultured ass to see something that it would never otherwise really care about: art. Like civil war soldiers we could all just say "I'm going to see the elephant" and like The Greatest Show on Earth, the elephant wasn't all of it. What this Bansky art show was, was really just a collection of wit, sometimes harmless, sometimes loaded but either way fun. Oh my God, thats so cute The way you just draw on stuff and think about yourself all the time I want to find my true love so I can have causal sex. A number of doctored images that once were snuck into London art galleries. LOL!! There are a few more pictures here if you are interested. Comment! (7) | Recommend! After Michael Berlin got four of us into Westwood he had to go back to get another, but there was no space in his automobile so Ryan and I made way with two signs and the 720 bus. When we got to the intersection of 3rd street and Santa Monica Blvd. we were joined by a few others. I admit it was a slow start but once Emmett joined us the protest started rolling. Finally Jimmy and Paul came to our aid with two great posters as well. Soon after, Michael finally got a parking space and joined in on the soothsaying. As you can see in the video the protest soon got into full swing. The one story that still has to be told is the story of the angry shop owner who made us cross the street. “You’re driving away customers” she’d blather out of her commie-fascist-ocean-loving-devil-tongue. So we crossed the street for her and for a while we thought that solved the problem. She even came over to take a picture with all of us in what seemed to be an act of hospitality. But every slime ball ocean lover is a good liar—it was all a plan to get us close together so some kid who works at the Swatch shop could dump a bucket of water on us. We almost got him arrested for battery. Damn bastard. Nevertheless it was a wonderful success and when it happens again be sure to get all your friends to fight for truth and justice against that evil body of water that sits off of our coastline doing nothing for nobody.
