Or maybe more like cat and mouse. I’m not sure which is the more suitable cliché.

I feel that I should make things clear-- I am not interested in Jailbait.

Sure, he's lot's of fun to work with, and reasonably good-looking, but he's not the kind of guy I would pursue. If he got up the nerve to ask me out, I might give him a courtesy trial date.

The trouble is, now that I know he's interested, I cannot stay away from him. It's a little pathetic.

I love the validation so much, that I create ways for us to bump into each other, or have our breaks together, so I can watch his eyes light up when he says "hi."

Is that mean? Am I leading him on? From a guy's point-of-view, what should I do/ not do to make sure I'm treating his feelings, which, however obvious, are not out in the open, respectfully?

I do not think you are leading him on. Just let him know that you want to be friends and are not looking for anything more at the moment.

Haha
Sorry for being so nosy. I blame my teenage drive to know useless information that might be connected to the "drama factor." I was just hoping to confirm a name, since I think I already know who Jailbait is. If we ARE talking about the same person, Jailbait once hit on my sister, so he's not my favorite.

But grudges aside...yes, I'd have to say you're leading him on. If he asks you out, and you're positive that he's not your type, don't do the trial date either, whether you're just being nice or not. It'd only make him harder to get rid of, though you seem to be enjoying the attention :)

Stop fucking with his head and leading him on; that's the worse thing you can do. If he has a thing for you, and let you know, then just draw the line and tell him you're not interested. Do you want to be the girl that turns him into an asshole? The girl he liked back in HS who toyed with his feelings thus turning him into a player?

Hrm...
While you are leading him on, I agree that it's hard not to be a little attracted to someone who likes you so much. Think about what you do like about him and how that fits into a long term friendship. If he likes you it's going to be hard either way, but at the end of the day, I think it's better to have a solid friendship than an awkward nothing, where you keep trying to avoid him all the time.
