This is me
Sunday. 10.19.08 3:47 pm
Hi Everybody-

I'm a writer and activist with a disability who's totally happy to be here. I'm obsessed with election season; I'm a very political animal. I write lots of poetry, a poem a week during bad periods (normally it's a poem every two/ three days). Due to my disability, I have about six assistants that cook, clean, wash, type and so on. I spend lots of my time advocating for them, myself, and others with disabilities. That's the most important thing I contribute to the universe besides merely existing as a bisexual, women of color with a disability and showing that such people can have happy productive lives.

My Green Pary Co-chair Nomination Speech
Saturday. 11.22.08 9:24 pm
Note: This is a speech I'm going to give at the Green-Rainbow Party Convention tomorrow. I'll let you know if I get the job or not

I have opted, after much consideration to run for Female co-chair of this party. I do this with some reservations, but Ive always been (at root) a heart thinker rather than a head thinker. Running for party co-chair is yet another one of these decisions in my life.

As co-chair, I hope to heal many of the wounds that have been created among ourselves (albeit mostly unintentionally) within the past few years. In 2001, when I joined the party I thought I- a confirmed Democrat since they age of 12- was joining the party of hope. I ran for office. I was supported. I was believed in. Green, and later Green-Rainbow folks, became a badly needed source of community for this displaced and homesick Pennsylvanian.

In 2006, I ran for Lt. Governor with much aid from many people in this room. I was the most severely disabled person ever to run for office, whatever that means. I truly thought I was changing the world. They very activity for which I believe I was pit on the Earth by either God or the Universe, depending on your personal belief system.

After my 2006 run, I sadly saw the Party deteriorate. We didnt need the Democrats or Republicans to rip us apart we do it ourselves. Whats the point of that? I feel like we, as a Party, need to learn how to disagree. There is no need for every Green-Rainbow Party member to have the same opinion as all the others. This Party is, hopefully, not a sponsor of dictatorship. Democrats and Republicans are not all similar in nature, even if they share similar politics,; why must we be?

If what I just said makes sense to you, please vote for me as female co-chair. Please assist me in taking back our party and rebuilding the valued community weve, to some degree, lost. Thank you!

Green Party
Friday. 12.5.08 8:55 pm
I should just resign from the Green Party. I'm too busy now to deal with it. I love, love, love politics, but I'm thinking I might make more difference as a Dem. I've been thinking this for a while. It occured to me, when I missed a phone meeting. That's not at all like me. My subconscious must be telling me something.
