But I had an awesome time at the Vagina Monologues. I learned that every time you buy plastic anything especially cell phones and game systems, you're promoting the rape of and violence to girls and women in the Democratic Republic of Congo. I didn�t. I�m pissed.

According to the 2009 Vagina Monologues which I saw today rape is used in the Democratic Republic of Congo in order to make the people more compliant and afraid of their government. Most the resources of the country are being sent over seas to make cell phones and play stations because you can get cheap plastic in that country.

I�m horrified but I can�t give up my phone as some people might be able to do. I need to call my assistants in the middle of the night. I need it so I don�t need to have someone with me every second of the day. I need it so if there�s an emergency people can find me.

Instead of giving up my phone I�ve opted to make a donation to the V Day project which is the organization that was begun when the Vagina Monologues were first performed. Every year they highlight some awful situations for women and girls. This year it was the Congo and cell phones. I don�t have a lot of money but I gave ten dollars.
