Ok so today I go to Krazy Al's my local music store. I buy a set of Peavy PV215s They are like 5' tall. Good for 700W at 4 Ohms. Bought a used Nady xa900 power amp. 300W per channel stereo. 900W Mono Birdged. So I fully intended to sit and have my butt shook to NighWish. I am a serious NightWish fan. I love high power audio too.

Only in my dreams today. The sorry amp crapped out on me :( I belive it is the DC blocking capacitor in the preamp. Has a non sustaining buzz and rattle if you turn up much more than 1/4 volume. I can fix it, but I am mad it quit. Buying used high power electronics is like buying goldfish at Wal-Mart. They are alive and cheap. Soon as you get home they die. So I take it back to the store at 5:10pm, it ususally closes at 7pm. they are already closed.

But my friend Thomas who works there saw me and let me in. Thomas is a really cool guy. He is about to get his docorate in music. Great christian guy. So I ask if he can refund me my money then I would put some more with it to get a better amp. But just my luck Thomas has to clear the return with Al first. So Al can't reached we call and call but he never answers. Oh well I got to talk to Al tomorrow about the refund. I guess when i take my lil bro to shcool I can stop and see about it.

I am sorry I have been so busy cutting grass, driving joey all over the state and amplifier designing I have not got around to that solar panel blog. Hopfully I will have that up soon.

Tommorow I gotta get up around 8am to take my little bro to ladder and hose drills at the local fire dept. We are studying for our MOD-1 or fire fighting 101 certification. I came in late so I take him to the class and just sit in. He gets mad at me because I ace all the test and never read a word in the book. He studies for hours before a test.

I try and console him you know I am 6 years older and a college grad Joey. I just know more stuff and know how to pay attention in class without notes. You never been to school. I tell him. Anyway I am the town geek anyway. I got the reputation for knowing somthing about everything. People listen or laff on the floor whenI say "Well Actually..." Hence the name of my blog. Now I mentioned earlier what a difference one CFL could make. Reduces power fuel consumtion ideally by 53% So there are around 300million people in America. Right? So like if all of them replaced a 60W incandesant bulb with a CFL then what would happen? If we say 300million Incandesant bulbs need 4.3Gals of crude a year to run at 8 hours a day. 300 Million would need

4.33 x 3,000,000 = 12,990,000 Gals

A barrel of crude oil contains 42 Gallons. 48.43 Gallons of refined product. So let's use the refined product number.

12,990,000 Gals / 48.43 = 268,222.17 Barrels But guess what can't have .17 barrels so lets round that up. to 268,223

CFLs are rated at 46% of the regular bulbs so

268,223 * .46 = 123,382 Barrels.

Which mean that CFLs save how much oil?

268,233 x (1 - .46) = 144,846 Barrels of oil.

That means they save how much more oil than they use?

144,846 - 123,382 = 21464 Barrels more are saved than used.

Sickening to think that petty light uses that much of our oil.

CFL stands for Compact Flouresant Lighting. I simply call then swirly bulbs. Now the ones I use most often consume 13W of power and are around 900 Lumens. Equivilent to a regular 60W bulb. Saves a huge amount of energy.

Ok so how do they work? Like thier larger brothers they are flueresant lights. They are simply glass tubes. Glass tubes filled with a gas simular to neon. This gas when excited by high voltage becomes conductive and a current starts to flow. As the current flows through the gas it emits ultra violet light. Basically light with a very high frequency beyond our vision. The glass tube is coated with phosphor. Phosphor is the same stuff in a tube type television. Phosphor emits nearly pure white light when excited by ultra violet light.

Okay power is consumed when electrial current flows through somthing. The amount of heat created by a current flow is determined by first of all the power. 1 W can produce 3.4 BTUs per hour. Next the mass and thermal qualities of the conductor. Since the conductor is a gas there is very little mass and the gas has a unigue ability to make light. So in a CFL almost all the power consumed turns into light. Amazing.

So how much oil or natural gas are you saving by using these bulbs? Good question, because I can tell you.

First off Oil

If your power is supplied by a oil power plant then figure this.

1 barrel of crude oil can produce 5,800,000 BTU's.

1 Kilowatt Hour makes 3413 BTU's

Let's say a 60W standard bulb is on 8 hours a day for a year.

Let's figure watt the kwh for the day would be.

60/1000 = .06 KWH x 8 = .48KWH per Day

.48KWH x 365 = 175.2KWH for a year

Now how many btu's of heat where made in that year by that bulb?

175.2KWH x 3413 = 597,957.6 Btu

So how much crude oil that consume in perfect approx.

1 gal of crude contains 138,095 BTU's

597,957.6 BTU's / 138,095 BTU's = 4.33 Gals of Crude.

Pretty neat huh?

Now lets compare a CFL to that.

that all was based on 60W so a equal CFL = 26W

so we can use a persentage.

26/60 = 43.33 %

so we can say 4.33 gals x 43.33% = 1.88 gal.

Bellieve me that worked try it.

Now about mercury emissions and CFLs. Yes CFLs contain some mercury. Mercury is poisonous. It will kill you. So will most of the things under your sink. Gasoline is dangerous like mercury. Drinking it will kill you, inhaling it will make you sick, skin contact is always bad. Now about mercury going into a landfill? Mercury came from the earth duh? So I think because of the energy CFL's save they justify the amount of mercury they contain.

I was given a comment that stated that the New Testement didn't have anything to say about homosexuality. Sir I am afraid you are wrong. Apparently you have never read the New Testement. Here I quote 1st Corinthians 6:9

9Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders

It says homosexuals will not inherit the kingdom of heaven.

Also nobody on the internet will like me after this but I am just telling what is in the Holy Bible.

Romans 1:18-32

So all you people who claim the bible has nothing to say about homosexuality are dead wrong and a shame that you run your mouths about what the Bible says but never read it.
