I have four brothers. I was the princess. As with any princess, my main goal in life was to make my brothers miserable. I was extraordinarily gifted in this area. All any of them would have to do was, for lack of another word, NOTHING, and I would cry out and my father would come immediately to my aid and "fix" my problem. Needless to say, "fixing" my problem meant that one of them would ultimately get in trouble for, lack of another word, NOTHING.

Oh, don't let me fool you though. They all had their own little sneaky ways of getting back at me without getting in trouble. My oldest brother gave me my first speeding ticket, rat that he is. He said he did it because he "loved" me. Hmph. I wonder, but I absolutely do adore him! My second-to-the oldest brother, well, he was always rather nice to me. My brother who is one year younger than me would tell boys who called our home for me that I had some horrible disease. And, finally, my little brother would hide dead insects in my bed.

Regardless, they are the princes in my life now that my king has passed onto heaven. I thought my protector was gone forever, and was pleasantly surprised to have him replaced by four new ones. I will, however, always be the "little" sister, even to my baby brother. How does that happen? That the torturer becomes the beloved?

Arizona is so hot. Not "Oh, my God, it's hot outside", but "It's a freakin' oven outside"!!!

I moved here from the East Coast, where there is this unique little thing called...rain. I miss rain. Don't get me wrong, when I lived in the East, all I could dream of were sunny days, but that old saying, "The grass is always greener..." doesn't apply to Arizona. Maybe if it rained, there would be some green here.

I want to move back to the East Coast. Maybe have a house on a lake and dream of being warm in the winter. But in the back of my mind, I will know that the dream should remain a dream. Reality hasn't been that impressive.
