N.O.R.E. (born Victor Santiago Jr.) will release his first all-reggaeton album N.O.R.E. Y La Familia…Ya Tu Sabe next Tuesday (Sept. 12) on Roc La Familia / Island Def Jam.
“There are a lot of Latinos who don’t speak Spanish, and that doesn’t mean we’re not proud of our heritage,” N.O.R.E. said.
N.O.R.E. Y La Familia features collaborations with Don Omar, Daddy Yankee, Diddy, Pharrell, Fat Joe, Tru Life and more. The Queens-bred rapper rhymes in English and Spanish throughout the album, keeping the project bilingual.
The album features the track “Tribute to Hector Lavoe,” which samples the late salsa legend’s classic recording “Mentira.” The song is one of N.O.R.E's favorite songs on the album.
“We did this whole album looking at Hector Lavoe’s picture because that’s who inspired us,” N.O.R.E. explained. “That’s who my pops listened to. I wanted to record a tribute to him because if there hadn’t been a Hector Lavoe, there probably would be no reggaetón.”
N.O.R.E. first earned a loyal fan base as one half of rap duo Capone-N-Noreaga.
Their 1997 debut album, The War Report, was released to critical acclaim, spawning hits like “L.A., L.A.” and “T.O.N.Y.”
N.O.R.E. officially went solo in 1998 with his multiplatinum-selling album N.O.R.E, featuring the Neptunes-produced club hit single "Superthug."

The Game
The Game's sophomore album The Doctor's Advocate is taking a little longer than expected. Instead of November 7th the Black Wall Street/Geffen release is now scheduled to drop a week later on November 14th.
Last month it was confirmed that the Game would be releasing his second album on his own Black Wall Street label through Geffen Records, rather than through G-Unit/Aftermath. Since the release of his debut album The Documentary Game has experienced ongoing friction with rapper and head of G-Unit 50 Cent. The rapper born Jayceon Taylor has been at the center of several controversies as of late. As SOHH previously reported, Game was involved in an altercation with fellow California rapper Ras Kass at a Los Angeles night club just this week.
While Game's current single "It's Ok (One Blood)" is getting plenty of burn on radio, the label is also planning to drop a second track, and work both singles simultaneously. The new song "Let's Ride" was produced by Scott Storch.
In addition to Storch, fans can expect to hear production from Timbaland, Just Blaze, Cool & Dre, Kanye West and Dr. Dre. Game's manager Jimmy Rosemond spoke with SOHH last month to confirm that despite his move from Aftermath, Game would continue to work with Dr. Dre. In addition to Junior Reid, who appears on "It's Ok," The Doctor's Advocate features guest collaborations with Mary J. Blige, Snoop Dogg and Nas, among others.
The Doctor's Advocate will be available on November 14th.

Def Jam Records President and CEO Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter can add another accomplishment to his growing list of achievements.
The mogul/rapper ranked number 46 on Vanity Fair's annual New Establishment power List, joining Oprah Winfrey (9) and Richard Parsons of Time Warner (11) as the only African-Americans on the list.
Carter is also one of three musical artists that made the list, along with U2 lead singer Bono (24) and Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger (56).
Carter, who recently aligned with UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan and MTV to bring attention to the world's water crisis, is gearing up for a world tour.
The outing is slated to kick off this month with stops in Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia.
This is the first year Jay-Z has made the list of powerful moguls, which also includes Google's co-founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page, Wal-Mart's CEO H. Lee Scott Jr., Viacom CEO Sumner Redstone and others.
The issue hit newsstands last week and features Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes and their baby Suri on the cover.
In related news, Jay-Z recently confirmed that he will release a new album by the end of this year.
Entertainment Weekly reports Jay-Z will release the highly-anticipated recording, titled Kingdom Come, this fall.
Among the featured producers are Timbaland, Kanye West , Dr. Dre and Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin, who Jay said crafted beats for a song called "Beach Chair."
Kingdom Come will be the first album from Jay-Z since 2003's The Black Album.
That album was supposed to be Jay-Z's final release, but he admitted an urge to return to the studio and started working on the project over the summer.
"Something, when you love it, is always tugging at you and itching, and I was putting it off and putting it off. I started fumbling around to see if it felt good," Jay-Z explained to Entertainment Weekly.
Fans can expect the new album to be "more in the vein of The Black Album than The Blueprint, " said the mogul, who admitted to dabbling with "different types of music."

According to a recent survey performed by Adrian North for the University of Leicester, people in Britian who listen to Hip-Hop are more likely to have had more sexual partners in the last five years, than people who listen to country music.
North, who is a psychologist, polled 2,500 Britons to determine how music related to their lifestyles. The telling survey was conducted in an effort to make a correlation between the behaviors of people based on the music they listened to.
The results revealed that 38% of Hip-Hop listeners and 29% of dance music fans surveyed had engaged in sexual activity with more than one person in the last five years.
In comparison, only 1.5% of country music fans admitted to participating in the same type of behavior.
"Surprisingly there have been very few studies on how people's age, sex, socioeconomic status and personality relate to the music they enjoy listening to," North told Reuters.
Additionally, North’s survey revealed that more than 50% of Hip Hop and Dance music fans admitted to breaking the law and committing some type of criminal act.
The survey also discovered that at least a quarter of classical music fans have used cannabis and that 12% of those surveyed who enjoy opera had experimented with "magic mushrooms."
In an effort to expand his analysis, North plans to recruit an additional 10,000 subjects to poll in the near future.

Full Surface/J Records rapper Cassidy was critically injured in a car accident last night (October 5) in New Jersey.
A spokesperson for Sony records tells SOHH that the Philadelphia native was in New Jersey en route to a Yonkers, NY studio session last night, when a U-Haul truck swerved into oncoming traffic, striking the side of the SUV Cassidy was riding in. The MC was sitting in the rear passenger side seat.
Currently in critical condition, Cassidy has suffered severe injuries, including a fractured skull and broken bones on the left side of his face. He is currently hospitalized at an undisclosed medical facility, awaiting the results of a CAT scan.
"Cass is like my brother, and this has been such a rough year for him," Swizz Beatz, Full Surfce honcho and Cassidy's close friend, released this statement exclusively to SOHH. "We're all praying and staying positive during this time. Thanks to everyone for their continued support, and please keep Cassidy and his family in your prayers."
The Philly rep had been preparing his return to the rap game with a third album via Full Surface. He was released from prison in April for an involuntary manslaughter conviction stemming from the 2005 death of Desmond Hawkins.
