I guess that pretty much depends on the person, in my opinion.

& some actually DO ask because they're concerned. I do because it bothers me & I can't stand to see someone feeling sad or upset about something.

Reminds me, about 2 weeks ago, one of my classmates got jacked & I didn't know what to do because I didn't really know her & she was crying.. I felt so bad & I tried to be humorous about it, but it sorta didn't work. lol... but shes okay now & we talk more often now too. hahahaha.
