Playing Time Crisis Pays Off
Thursday. 6.24.04 10:41 am
I can't believe I totally forgot to say anything about this in my previous blogs. On Sunday I went to my friend Brian's brithday party at his house. It was pretty cool. Like 12 or so people muttering around his house which was a fairly good decent size, and by that I mean big. Upstairs, ground level, and a complete basement. It really shouldn't be called a basement for it was the same size of the other two floors. A big long driveway, two garages, 3 cars, 1 boat, 2 4-wheelers, and 1 monstrous racing motorcycle. That motorcyle was almost as big as a car. Looked like one of those huge Kawasaki bikes you'd see going 150 mph on ESPN. Nice big backyard, and a lake! I mean a lake in your backyard.. if that isn't one of the coolest things.

So we hang out doing random things until the burgers and hotdogs are done for eating. Picnic by the lake and then Brian gets out one of the 4-wheelers. He offered to give anyone a ride through the woods that wanted one. So I said why not. Strapped on a helmet and hopped on the back and he took off. This was just too cool! It really felt like some kind of video game or something. You know that Bond 007 ride at King's Dominion? The one where you're strapped in to the chairs that move and on the screen you seen bond first person. The seats move with the action on screen so you feel like you're really there. Exact same feeling riding on the back of the 4-wheeler except it was real! You actually feel the wind. So cool. Well then after a little while Brian stops and asks if I want to drive. Hell yeah, lol. So I get in the driver's seat and Brian's showing me where the brake and gas and everything are since that's a very useful thing to know. `` So he sits in the back and says "OK let's go. Oh and Chris, the gas is very sensativ..." At that moment I hit the gas not registering what he just said and *vrrrrooom" off we went. Brian said later he thought I was going to pop a wheelie for a second. I didn't but kicked up a large amount of dust behind me. `` Then he took me through this trail in the woods. Up and down hills, water, big tree branches, inclines, uneven ground with holes and roots everywhere. It was soo much fun.

So then after lunch we all went inside and started playing a Texas Holdem poker tournament with chips and everything. Learned how to play besides what I had picked up from watching the world poker tour. `` In between hands Brian would take someone out to his porch for a little shooting. He had two guns out there and a little paper target taped to a barrel about 150 feet or so away in his backyard. He had a rifle (not sure what kind) and a .22 revolver. Now I have never fired a gun before in my life, save one time 5 years ago when I shot a shotgun. So he was telling me about the chamber and the sights and the trigger and everything. So I get up to fire the rifle first. Take my first shot and I see a little cloud of dust right at the base of the barrel. So I checked where I was aiming in the sights and took the next shot. The paper target moved. Hit one, yes! I ended up hitting the target every time after that. 9/10 with the rifle. Then I got the revolver and that felt strangely natural to hold. Probably because of all the Time Crisis I've played. But anyway, I hit the target with all 8 shots! Go me! 17/18 target hits my first time firing. Oh and then later Brian let me take one shot with his SKS assualt rifle. And let me tell you one round is enough. Stupid me didn't put on ear protection and when I fired that thing it was like I was holding a cannon. There was this defeaning roar as I could literally feel the bullet leaving the gun barrel. I had this ringing in my ears for like 10 minutes, it finally went away, but man that was cool.

So then we all just sat out by the lake. I tried my hand at fishing, but didn't catch anything. We built a little camp fire and just sat out by the lake until like 1 am or something making smores and marshmallows and whatever else. Fun times.

So that was Sunday, yesterday was a completely different story entirely. I went grocery shopping and the store had these awesome "self checkout" stations. No cashier or bagger. You scan all your items through the machine and bag them yourself. It was so cool. Then a story on the way back. I just got off from work and I was walking toward campus to go back to my dorm like I usually do. On the way I pass this bus stop, and a bus just happenned to pull up at the same time I was walking by. I hadn't planned on going shopping today, but I figured since the bus was right there, why not, lol, sponteneity. So I go to the store and go back to the same bus stop I got off at and waited. There was a little sign posted on the bus stop sign but I didn't pay any attention to it. Waited for about 15 minutes and no bus. So I was tired of sitting and stood up and decided to see what the sign said, "Attention: Busses no longer service this stop after 5:30 on weekdays please use the stop by the McDonalds." Sure enough it was 5:45. So I trek over to the McDonalds. I'm kind of hungry and start walking inside the McDonalds to get some dinner. As soon as I walk in the door the bus shows up. So I run outside and just make it. Inside the bus its just me, the bus driver and this other guy. This other guy was weird. He had on some muscle tank top shirt and some short, and I mean short jogging shorts, and a visor, must have been like 60 years old. He kept talking to the bus driver about good chinese restaurants and how everybody should visit Chicago at some point in their life. Odd. Anyway the bus gets on campus and I realize I have a decision to make. The street we were on goes straight and then either turns right or left. Left is where my dorm is. Now, there are two kinds of buses, blue buses turn left, orange buses turn right. I didn't look to see which bus I had gotten on. Rather than risk the bus turning the wrong way I got off one stop back. I walked on the sidewalk watching the bus and it came the to the intersection and turned left.. -_- lol. I just shook my head.

So that was amusing. And to cap off this entry I have more quotes from my calculus professor this morning:

Prof: It's hot in here. Who knows where the thermostat is?
Student: *points to it on the wall*
Prof: Thanks.
(He walks over to it and when he touches it the face plate falls off leaving exposed wires and the circuit board showing)
Prof: Umm... well there used to be a thermostat...
(Turns and keeps on teaching, lol)

(Finishes writing a proof to a formula that takes up the *entire* board)
Prof: So there is the proof of LaGrange's Theorem.
Students: (silence)
Prof: What? You're not excited? I just proved all those formulas from the last chapter in one fell swoop!
Students: (still silence)
Prof: Oh, come on! This is one of those moments where you should be like "Damn math works!"

LOL
*smile* 7
Later. *gives you kiss after kiss after..* =)
