And Today As Well
Sunday. 4.25.04 1:12 am
Besides the fact that I had to wake up at 7:00 this morning, on a Saturday too!, this was a cool day. I got up early because I went hiking with four other friends through this wooded park. It was pretty fun. We even hopped over a "Do Not Enter, Path Closed" gate. Oooh. I feel like a criminal. Haha. Then we got to the end of the trail and someone *cough*John*cough* thought it would be a good idea to walk back along the side of the road. Ok, good idea for a little while until the shoulder disappeared and the road started making these sharp blind curves around a cliff side. We were like almost getting run over, so we decided (again another bright idea) to scale the hill next to the road to get out of the way. Well it was kind of hard to climb because it was 1) steep and 2) completely covered with leaves and pine cones which gives absolutely no traction to walk up. Plus there was the added, i guess excitement or peril, that if you slipped and fell down you'd land right on the road full of cars, so. Need I repeat again what a good idea this was. So we're grabbing onto trees and pulling ourselves up trying not to slip on the underbrush. Then I see a small stream flowing down the hill a few feet next to me. Its got a bunch of rocks in it, and I thought to myself, "Self, those rocks would make much better footholds than these pine needles." So, (in another bright idea) I jump, well more like hop or leap, over and into this stream. Immediately I realise that this stream even with its rocks probably wasn't the best idea. As you see, a stream by definition contains "water" and more importantly *flowing* water. And this "water" makes all the rocks fairly slippery. Maybe I should have thought of that earlier .... In any case, here I am holding on to this smooth slick stream about 20 feet above the road, down a more than 45 degree slope. So now if I fell, not only would the cars get me, but I'd be torn up by the rocks on the way down. Well, now. Quite a mess you got yourself into Chris. Lol. I'm not exactly sure how I managed to get up the rest of the way, but I climbed up that stream a good 10 feet farther until it leveled off. I'm pretty proud of myself, mainly for not falling and getting killed, but also for climbing up a stream on the side of the mountain. All those other people took the easy path, heh. So listen kids, when climbing a hill, don't choose to climb up the creek bed, its just a plain bad idea. It was a really fun trip though, we need to do it again.

After that I went to Best Buy, and got a new CD. Dido - Life for Rent. Very cool. I like it. Anyway, then went to KFC for lunch and then came back around 2:00 pm. Come to think of it last Saturday I still wasn't even up by then. Hmm.

The rest of the day wasn't near as exciting. Met with my calculus tutorees to start studying for the final. Apparently her friend who showed up the last time, is coming from now on. So that's kind of cool, they're both really nice. I hope I'm helping them out.

After that, physics was the name of the game for the rest of the day. People frantically trying to get it done before the deadline. We have this online submission system for physics hw, so inevitably one person will get #4, and another will get #6 and part 2 of #1, and so on. So the hall gathers in the hall trading formulas and telling how to do the problems. Its kind of funny to stand back and watch. It very closely resembles the stock market. People holding the formulas in their hands yelling out, "I've got #2 and I'll trade for #5 part b." "No good I need #3, but I've give you #7 instead." Physics bargaining at its finest. Or should I say economics, who knows. Speaking of that my economics final is on Tuesday, ahhhhh! I really need to study.

Later.
