It's a lovely term my gal pals and I coined when I was in the Outsiders as an extra. It perfectly describes love in the theatre. If you have been in a lot of plays (well, not even a lot of plays, just even a few plays) you know the term I speak of. That term, ladies and gentlemen, is 'Showmance', and I think it's great.
I'm currently in a production of Oklahoma! to celebrate our centennial. I'm not a huge part, and I barely even have a name (it's Ike). And Ike Skidmore, my friends, has a crush on another cowman. Actually, Elijah (moi) has a crush on Phillip, to be more specific.
Showmances abound in this show. My friend Christina has a crush on her childhood chum Jon (he shot her down) and tall, dark, and handsome Sean has a crush on some platinum blonde chick (not sure if this one's true, my gal pal Ryan told me so, though). All in all, this would make a great story if only they wouldn't kill me if I wrote it.
*sigh* Phillip is a great friend, too. He's not afraid to hold my hand and let me sit on his lap (and GOD, does that boy have a comfortable lap), but does that mean anything? In shows here, everyone flirts with everyone, making it hard to tell who's serious and who's not. It's terribly confusing. I'm 'with' so many men right now (and a few girls), but I'm careful not to show my feelings truly. God, do I want to, but I just can't.
He holds my hand. I sit on his lap. We follow eachother everywhere. He buys me sodas. We talk on the phone. My friend Tiffany thinks we would be a cute couple. Her twin Brittney thought we were going out. Could this be any more confusing?
And I really want a boyfriend. Could Phillip be my next?
Someone help!
