I have a friend who believes you can't really define a person's worth. I want to agree but I think society already has us, and our worth, defined. For example, I'm a middle white class female who technically counts as part of America's 'poor' because I go college and have accrued tons of debt. So my worth? Not very much. However, my college education is supposed to negate my 'poverty' by getting me a decent paying job in the near future. (Nope, still don't have a job offer.) That doesn't change that I'm poor. So, will I have to work until the day I die? Just to pay off my debt and build a life with more debt to be paid? I see men and women working who look older than my parents. It makes me think about all the future decisions I have to make. I don't want to work forever.
