A few words
"When we describe the Moon as dead, we are describing the deadness in ourselves. When we find space so hideously void, we are describing our own unbearable emptiness." ~ D.H. Lawrence "Is the meaning of life defined by its duration? Or does life have a purpose so large that it doesn't have to be prolonged at any cost to preserve its meaning?" "Living is not good, but living well. The wise man, therefore, lives as well as he should, not as long as he can... He will always think of life in terms of quality not quantity... Dying early or late is of no relevance, dying well or ill is... even if it is true that while there is life there is hope, life is not to be bought at any cost." ~ Seneca "People will tell you nothing matters, the whole world's about to end soon anyway. Those people are looking at life the wrong way. I mean, things don't need to last forever to be perfect." ~ Daydream Nation "All Bette's stories have happy endings. That's because she knows where to stop. She's realized the real problem with stories-- if you keep them going long enough, they always end in death." ~ The Sandman: Preludes & Nocturnes "The road now stretched across open country, and it occurred to me - not by way of protest, not as a symbol, or anything like that, but merely as a novel experience - that since I had disregarded all laws of humanity, I might as well disregard the rules of traffic. So I crossed to the left side of the highway and checked the feeling, and the feeling was good. It was a pleasant diaphragmal melting, with elements of diffused tactility, all this enhanced by the thought that nothing could be nearer to the elimination of basic physical laws than deliberately driving on the wrong site of the road." ~ Vladimir Nabokov, Lolita "It is easier to forgive an enemy than to forgive a friend." ~ William Blake Think about it Musicalities! My phone has been having a lot of issues getting/sending texts lately, which is annoying, but it wasn't really STRESSFUL until now. I was texting my boyfriend while shopping with my mom earlier, and we were discussing hanging out/something involving his car. He said he was feeling sad, but didn't elaborate as to why. Could just be depression... He's got a prescription for meds, but I don't think he's been taking them since we started dating. Anyway, my phone wasn't receiving some of his texts, so after a twelve minute break between texts, he sent me one that basically said "I guess you don't want to see me. Tomorrow maybe." I was holding my phone, rereading it, thinking "what???" Guessing he sent me something asking if I wanted to get together, what time, etc. and I never got it, so he assumed my silence was another way of saying "I HATE YOUR FACE, LEAVE ME ALONE!" I'm not even sure. We have some problems, but nothing I thought had the potential to become really serious. I'm hoping this doesn't turn out to be a significant issue in the future... 4 Comments. Er.... that is bad for any relationship.. Why is he so insecure? » Nuttz on 2011-12-03 05:43:30 I had a similar problem with my phone where I wouldn't receive texts or I would receive them really late. It was actually really distressing for both me and my boyfriend. He would text me, I would wonder why he hadn't texted me, I wouldn't text him because I wouldn't want to seem too clingy, he would wonder why I didn't text him, etc. Finally after I sent a couple of texts that clearly didn't respond to whatever he had written me we realized that I wasn't getting his texts. We both breathed a sigh of relief and laughed nervously about how such a little technological glitch had made us worry so much. I promised him that if I didn't respond to one of his texts, he could know with 100% certainty that I hadn't gotten it. That made everything much better. He also knows (because I told him) that if he calls me and I don't pick up it is always because I don't have my phone or it ran out of batteries or I'm in the middle of a meeting and never because I'm mad at him or something. Those kinds of things make both of us feel way more secure. I wouldn't see this as a sign that he's not secure enough or that your relationship has problems or whatever. He was probably just feeling lonely and misinterpreting your silence. Once he is assured that your silence as a rule means technical problems and not lack of interest I think he'll be his old self. » Zanzibar on 2011-12-03 08:26:14 yeah. I just got a new phone and it drops calls like crazy. I can't talked to anyone for longer and a few minutes without my phone hanging up on them. its annoying. Maybe its the service? Some phones dont seem to pick up service in areas that most people get it. STUPID CELL PHONES. I agree with Zanzi. Let him know your phone is being stupid and it has nothing to do with how you feel towards him. » Midnight on 2011-12-04 08:52:54 Phones are a necessary evil these days... It's hard to tell if silence-over-texting is because one is being ignored, or "too busy" or if the phone/network is just being whack-o. Thus the misinterpretation. I suggest: explaining phone dumb-ness, and maybe trying to get a new one?... (You can probably talk to your service provider about getting a new or replacement phone because it's not operating correctly.) » invisible on 2011-12-05 12:51:21
