And we hung on through the tough drilling on Monday, to make it for the certifcate presentation and the actual parade the very next afternoon.

On an afternoon where the future sergeants were our so-called helpers and the commanders reduced to targets for group photos, we were king, sort of. For we had completed the course, and received our new orange brassard. With that and our new No. 3, we were finally ready to assume the responsibilities that lie ahead of us.

For a few hours there and then at least, we did not think too much about the future. Instead we reveled in the present, taking evidence of memories that will soon become the past.

And that was how 17/10 POP-ed. On a cool Tuesday afternoon, with parents and commanders in attendance.
