William and Samuel for the early balloon and card (: Not sure who else is involved though.. Haha. Feels weird to be carrying a pink helium balloon around school and on the way home. Was the odd one out on the train again - It just seems to be RIJC's own station.. with hardly any 'outsiders' at this time of the day. So.. received more stares.

Tweaked more modules by the side of the blog; there's a music player now. Nowadays it's not easy to find sites that stream music to your blog. First there were midi players, then they fell into oblivion and was replaced by imeem, which was itself mauled by the recond labels and impose a 30-sec limit on every track. I just hope now that Mixpod will be spared, especially since it streams audio from Youtube directly..

And I wonder why I'm talking about all this.

Today;s compre passage (the one on 'happiness', 2007 C2 BT1) really left me thinking and reflecting.

"These "positional goods" [elite schooling, top jobs, and so on], as they are called, are in fixed supply: you can enjoy them only if others do not. The amount of money and effort required to grab them depends on how much your rivals are putting in, which only forces everyone on the treadmill to run faster, incurring more stress for no greater rewards."

I guess I'm thankful just to be here in HC, whether or not I failed to get into any elite programmes or read H3 - There are many people out there who would give anything just for a chance to pursue higher education in the environment we all enjoy.

Looking at Silu filling up her Oxford interview form made me ponder what I really want, and am able and willing to pursue in Uni. Scholarships? Grants? Oxford PPE or NUS Econs/Law? Or maybe something else? Who knows.. I just know that there's still the A's left, and all these would just be a pipe dream if I don't do well for it.

Yet I feel as long as we know that we had tried our best, the end results, no matter good nor bad, don't really matter anymore. Not acheiving straight As isn't the end of the world. Its cliched, yes, but it is really really true. What doesn't kill you can only make you stronger... and happier?.

Once again, Happy Birthday Meiling! (the blue balloon suits you, haha)

All the best everyone, and ehhh don't so mug leh everyday stay at home =P (*hint at someone. LOL). Later no life than you know.. xD

Winners are not those who never fail, but those who never quit.
