D-Day 60th Anniversary D-Day 60th Ann. Sunday. 6.6.04 9:03 pm 6,400 ships. 13,000 aircraft. 150,000 troops. the plan had been on the drawing board for months. then, on June 6th, 1944, it happened. D-Day. the Allied forces crossed the English Channel to attack Hitler's Fortress Europe in an attempt to bring the Third Reich to an end. on this day thousands of heroes were born. thousands of men-husbands, sons, fathers-everyday people-stormed into the largest amphibious attack ever. 60 years later, we remember the heroic sacrifices that marked the end of the Nazi rule. ten...hut!
