god is one, yet three
Tuesday. 3.20.07 11:20 am

i've been asking this question since i was nine, and still, i have't gotten an answer other than "we're not in the same level of understanding as God"

well, i think God is a pompus ass for doing that. making himself all... UP THERE.

ok... so the whole trinity thing. God is one being, yet he is three.

but for me, this is really hard to grasp, and to "understand" because... how can you be one, and call each other "father" and "son." and then the "son" sits on the right hand of the "father". what i think is, if it God were "one" why not jsut smoosh them back together? why keep them seperated like they were two seperate people.

so... can someone please give me an answer to
"how can god be one being, and still be 3 beings?"

cause last i checked, 1 does NOT equal 3.

Three forms. Think of water, it exists in three forms. Two that you can see, solid (ice) and liquid(water), those two are the easiest to identify. Likewise, God (Solid) and Jesus(Liquid) are easiest to see. God is solid, always the same loving yet vengeful entity. Yahweh is the name of the God in the original old testament, and the same god who people speak of as the "Almighty," or "Jehova," even "Allah." Yahweh is the god of Abraham, the father of Christianity, Judiasm, and Islam. Its with Jesus where the split really occurs, who is the liquid.

Water sustains life, right? Without drinking it, we won't be alive. Christians like me believe that Jesus is akin to water in that without havng him in our lives, we're dead. Jesus is the bridge between Yahweh and us in the protestant belief system, and only through him can we hope to have a relationship with Yahweh, which roughly translates in english to "I am."

Thirdly, there is the Holy Spirit, who takes the vapor form. We can't see gasses, but we know that they are there.. We can feel them, smell them, taste 'em even... but we can't see them, and more often than not, our eyes are the sense we choose to trust more than anything other. Anyhoo, the spirit .. in all honesty, I'm not too well versed on the Holy Spirit, but it makes up the third aspect of the Holy Trinity. Just think of it as water. Vapor, Solid, Liquid. Steam, water, and ice, different, yet all the same thing.
