#1) a] What is the affective color range of Phenolphthalein and at what point on the scale does it change color?
ANSWER--- The color of Phenolphthalein is clear until well 12, where it becomes a shade of light pink.

b] Methyl Orange
ANSWER--- Methyl Orange is orange in wells 1-7, but is yellow in 8-12.

c] Bromthymol Blue
ANSWER--- Bromthymol Blue is yellow in wells 1-9, aqua in well 10, and blue in wells 11 & 12.

d] Universal Indicator
ANSWER--- The Universal Indicator is deep red in wells 1 &2, redish-orange in wells 3-6, yellow in well 7, brownish in well 8, and very dark green in wells 9-12.

e] Red Cabbage
ANSWER--- Red cabbage is very pink in wells 1 & 2, light pink in well 3, and clear in wells 4-12.

f] Sierra Mist
ANSWER--- Red in well 1, orange in well 2, clear in well 3, yellow in well 4, very light pink in well 5, and clear in wells 6-12.

g] Vinegar
ANSWER--- Orange in wells 1 & 2, clear in well 3, yellow in well 4, pink in well 5, and clear in 6-12.

h] Baking Soda Water
ANSWER--- Very dark blue in well 1, browin in well 2, fuschia in well 3, baby blue in well 4, and clear in wells 5-12.

#2) Which of the indicators would be a good indicator for general use? Why?
ANSWER--- Methyl Orange would be a good indicator for general use because it is the same color in all of the acedic(HCl) wells, and the same color in all of the basic(NaOH) wells.

#3) Acid-Base titrations require a neutral point of pH 7. Which indicator would work well for this process?
ANSWER--- Sierra Mist, Vinegar, and Baking Soda Water could all be good for this because from 7-12 they are all clear, neutral.

#4) If you want to check the acid concentration in acid rain or in poind water, which indicator would be best?
ANSWER--- Baking soda Water would work best because it is clear in basic solutions, but in acedic solution, it has very deep and distinct color, and the deeper the color, the higher the acid concentration is.

pH Values ----> Sierra Mist = 2, Vinegar =5, Baking Soda Water = 12

..if your color answers on #1 are different then mine, you might want to change them because you had to use the crappy picture and i used to actual spotplate. yeah, looks like we're getting another 100 on this lab! we're freaking scientists in the making.

haha this sucked a fat one but oh well we can do it cause we are just that awesome, haha...yea i dont understand why you said baking soda, sierra mist, and vinegar would work in #3 & 4 because they arent the indicators...i said methyl orange for #3 and i still dont know for #4...i think i'm just gonna say the same thing...or else universal indicator...i really dont know, i can always get that form someone tommarow morning sometime to...then my colors were alittle different...even tho the picture is unclear i should just go by that a little more because if i used your answers it wouldnt make any sense at all looking at it in my notebook...i dont know, ohhh welll...now i just gotta do the stupid concusion..wonderful haha...sad i still dont have it finished

aaaahhhh HAHA crap! yeah, tells how much i pay attention. i kind of missed the word "indicators" there and thought it meant any of them. oh well, notebook pages can be torn out easily. that's why it pisses me off that we have to do it in pen!
