but basically all I have now is a plea for help.

I was recently accepted to The High School Summer Scholars Program at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. This is a great opportunity, and only about 140 high school juniors were accepted. I was one of them, obviously. Not only was I accepted, I was also given a $3,500 dollar scholarship. That does not, however, mean I am in the clear. So far I have my $3,500 scholarship, about $900 in my savings fund, and around $25 in my change bank. That leaves the $1,517 program cost and...

$500 for spending money +
$200 for books +
$1000 for a laptop +
$400 for plane tickets =

$1,517 + $2,100 = $3,617.

I made this $4,000 on a safe bet, in case plane tickets, books, or a laptop is more expensive than I had expected.

So now you know, and now you can donate, at fundable. Silly, stressful, fundable. Sigh.

---Edit:
Jkz, my dad made me delete the fundable. Brickland had given me $10 already, too. -sigh-
Anyway, so now if you want to donate, send me a message and I'll give you my address and the name to send it to and all that jazz.

Also: got $6 in change today! woooh! I'm the greatest panhandler everrrr.

Also: Thank you ika and random. I'm definitely gonna go for that, but if I can't find a good one for cheap, I really want a macbook. Anyway, Craig's List here I come!

You know if you have an electronic flea market in your area you can pick up a decent laptop for less than five hundred dollars. I'm not sure what kind you're looking for though.

Oh, and I wish I could donate, but I don't have money/a job at the moment. :/

I was going to suggest what random said.

See if you can buy the books used, laptops... 1k will get you a pretty snazzy one. You can get a decent, new one for maybe 5, 6 hundred, before rebates, and god knows what.

I mean, for 1k, you must be looking for something craaaaazy. Or at least something top of the line to last you from now until halfway through college.

My Hps, they both have done around 3 years of life, the last one only "died" after a repair messup, but it was working 95% when I sent it off. Ok, maybe this one I"m using is the first one I've had long enough for the warranty to run out.

THough I guess what you would want to do. Find a sale, get a good $500 or so laptop. It's a summer program so, hit the memorial day sales. Buy your warranty from the manufacturer. You can get pretty good ones that are "the dog took a crap on it, here's a new one"tacular. A good 3 year accidental coverage/on site/super-quick turnaround warranty will run about 350-400 dollars.
