part 3: haunting visions-the family
Tuesday. 11.16.04 10:12 am
it was the year 1895, the cruises were settling down, in a place they thought was right for both girls. their teenage daughter, lana, was becoming quite a rebel in their old neighborhood. she was having trouble with the kids at her old school; and there were plenty of times when the cops would bring he home in the middle of the night. that had been one reason why the cruises had moved. this story does not invovle lana, but her nine-year-old sister, samantha.

the family, brian and susan cruise, and their two daughters, lana and samantha, were new in town. they had moved from new york city to the countryside (somewhere in california, a place no one ever heard of), but not far from civilization, of course. the first day they arrived, everyone retreated from the newcomers, hiding in fear and knowing that this family, the cruises would be moving into the connorss old home. everyone believed taht anyone who lived anywhere near (or of course, inside) the connorss house, they would be cursed to die there.

every year the little town would see newcomers moving into the old place up on the hill. no one ever ventured near the connorss property, unless they never heard of the place, and was curious if it was really haunted, or not. every year a family or a group of kids from out of town would move in or see the place, but would never live to see the next year. the whole town knew the connorss stroy, save the new families that moved inot the house--or the kids who partied there. it only happened five years earlier. it had made front page in their newspaper, the news mirror, FAMILY OF 4 MURDERED. the headlines read. THE MOTHER TIED TO A CHAIR, APPARENTLY TORTURED TO DEATH. THE FATHER HANGED, TEENAGED GIRL MUTILATED ON THE LIVING ROOM FLOOR; LITTLE LIZI MISSING...everyone assumed it was the father who had gone mad and killed his family, and then himself.

on the first day as the family was unpacking, lana came running downstairs with her sister in her arms. she was hysterical, and in her hysteria she almost dropper her sister. lana was now crying, her mother comforted her, but she pushed away. they didnt know what had happened upstairs. as susan and brian tried to coax the story out of their daughter, samantha started walking towards the stairs, mumbling to herself. brian turned around to find samantha climbing the stairs. he rushed to his other daughter's side, before she reached the top of the stairs.

a few years later an excerpt from the news article read:

THE FAMILYS FIRST ENCOUNTER WAS THE SECOND NIGHT THEY ARRIVED...THE CRUISES INFANT DAUGHTER, SMANATHA WAS TALKING WITH SOMEONE WHEN SUSAN CRUISE, THE MOTHER WALKED BY. THINKING HER DAUGHTER WAS TALKING IN HER SLEEP, SHE WALKED INOT HER BEDROOM...SAMANTHA WAS FACING THE OPENED WINDOW...HER ARMS STRETCHED OUT...SHE INCHED SLOWLY TOWARDS THE OPENED WINDOW...SUSAN THINKING SHE WAS ONLY PLAYING A GAME, SHE WATCHED A LITTLE...SHE WATCHED AS HER DAUGHTERS ARMS STRETCHED IN FRONT OF HER...STANDING IN FRONT OF THE WINDOW...SAMANTHA LOOKS BACK AND SMILES AT HER MOTHER...SAMANTHA STEPPED ONTO THE LEDGE OF HER WINDOW; SHE TURNED TO FACE HER MOTHER, AND SMILED AGAIN. SUSAN WALKED INTO THE ROOM, SOMETHING PULLING HER INSIDE. SAMANTHA STRETCHED HER ARMS OUT, EXTENDING THEM AS WIDE AS THE WINDOW WOULD LET HER. SHE FALLS BACK; HER MOTHER COMES RUNNING TOWARDS THE WINDOW CATCHING NOTHING, BUT AIR...

samantha was fine; it was all an illusion. lizi was only playing a game with the new family. it was only months later that another incident happened.

samantha was playing outside when it happened for the second time, since her family had moved to the little town. her mother and a family friend sat on the front porch sipping lemonade, not seeming to notice that samantha was heading towards the back of the house, which samantha was heading towards the back of the house, which samantha was not allowed to go anywhere near, until her fahter made sure there were no snakes, or anthing hazard to the little girl.

samanthas mother and her friend talked idly awya, as samantha walked, almost trance-like, to the backyard. samantha could hear their laughter drift away slowly as she reached the back of the house. she reached up to open the gate, when she heard a scream coming from behind, yet she was oblivious to the scream, she continued.

moments later, another scream from the backyard, this time, it was little samantha who was screaming. a couple of minutes passed, and her mother came rushing through the gate. susan found her daughter lying on the ground, convulsing. she rushed to her daughters side, and cradled samantha in her arms.

susan wastn sure how samantha got into the backyard. she knew brian had locked the gate the second day they arrived, and had been locekd to this very day. she didnt knwo how samantha could have opend the gate. susan called for her friend. she came and was told to call brian and an ambulance. as susan waited for the ambulance and her husband to come, she felt that she was not alone. she turned around slowly, hoping that it would be her husband, or at least the ambulance. it was not who she expected at all...

an hour later, susan came to; people in uniform were hovering about her, and her husband looking at her with fear in his eyes. "what happened?" was all she asked.

"your husband found u lying on the ground, convulsing." one fo the ment in uniform said. susan lookeda t him, like he was insane. she got up with the help of her husband. "do you rmember what happend?" the smae man.

"no..wait, i remember a littel." she was looking around the yard, and her husband asked her what she was looking for. "a little girl...i saw her...she was here.."

"your daughter is fine, ma'am--"

"no! no, not her, there was another little girl. she was about this tall," she indicated with her hand, "and long black hair, with dark brown eyes. she was looking right at samantha, and in her eyes, so much pain." she was looking down, twisting her fingers, a nervous habit for her, while she told them what she could remember. she then looked up at the crowd; they didnt believe her one bit.
