a day at the museum.

The sky was a little gloomy all week but the weekend brought beautiful crisp fall weather. It was the perfect opportunity to spend a day at the Getty and snack at its amazing cafe (the Getty burger and garlic fries are a delicious YES, but the funky, non-food-tasting onion rings are a big HELL NO, despite what that crackhead on Yelp was raving about). We also frolicked and took 80 bajillion pictures in the amazing garden, before finally perusing the photography exhibits. The whole day essentially had a photographic overtone since Scott brought his SLR and I am in the midst of preparing to purchase my own. We thus spent the day making mental tallies of how many museum-goers had Canons v. Nikons. It seemed that the general trend is that everyone and their mom has a Canon except for aZn guys, who have Nikons.
Yukai also had a Thanksgiving dinner/joint bday party for the Ishi/Ichi-kawas last weekend. Turkey, stuffing (with the critical apples and onions), yams, mashed potatoes, cornbread, and the best ham I've ever had (and I have had a lot of ham in my life), which turned out to be from Costco. Watched the kids play Beer Pong afterwards - who knew Beer Pong had such intricate rules? Or that Ryan could make accurate shots 50% of the time by backing up 3 steps and shooting the ping pong ball like a basketball? Learn something new everyday.

I love the Getty.
I haven't been there in a LOOOONG time (since I moved back north from Claremont where I was for college). I remember the first time I went there a little more than 5 years ago. The thing that stands out the most of my memories from that place have nothing to do with the architecture or the art, but of my friend who said to someone else in a very matter-of-fact deadpan voice: "You want nuts. You really want nuts."
