Well, before I march into the real reason for this post, it's probably a good idea to clarify on the nature of the situation.

You see, I'm a jump roper. Sounds crazy yes, but this isn't playground-style. Take a look @ the Youtube video in my Mods...even that doesn't accurately define the sport. It's not just double dutch. There's singles speed, speed relay, double dutch speed, singles freestyle, pairs freestyle, double dutch freestyle, triple unders, 3-minute speed ( ), and the list goes on. It's a tournament centered-sport, where the various teams participating will compete against each other. Winners are broken down into the following age categories:
*10 and under
*11-12
*13-14
*15-17 (my age group(
*18-29
*29-49
*50 and over (yes, there are old people involved as well :)

So to give you the scope of these tournaments...there are regional tournaments, as well as Nationals and even Worlds. Nationals is held in Disneyworld every year, and Worlds changes host cities like the Olympics. I've been to Nationals for a few years, never made it to Grand Nationals, but I've placed a few times.

I used to be a with a very small team, who weren't exactly 100% serious about the sport (yes it is a sport). That's ok though, they were my 2nd family so to speak. This last Nationals in June was our last year together because our Coach had other things to take care of in her life, and driving for and hour from Seattle just to work with us can take its toll. So I've been invited to join a new, more serious team known as Hotdog USA. Lol, interesting name, but they're really good.

We just recently got a list of expenses and fees...I published them in a few entries back. Unfortunately, we may not be able to cover them. Now while this sport may seem insignificant to you, it's been a huge part of my life for the past 5 years. Not being able to do it would be...well, disasterous. I've been looking forward to practicing with these people for so long, because I think I may actually be able to get somewhere...I hope that doen't sound concieted, it's just that the degree of skill they implement is something I feel I could really benefit from. My old team was great, but these guys are more competitive and that's what I need as of now. How would I be able to pay approximately $150 a month? Get a job...which would further complicate things because:

1.) I don't have my license yet, meaning my mom would have to escort me to work -_-
2.) With Junior year coming up, things are gonna start heating up in terms of academics...college, SAT, lots of AP classes...it's intimidating.

But the worst part is, my dad was completley backing me and my sister on joining. My sister, Marissa, was hesitant about practicing with the Hotdogs because she was intimidated and felt underclassed...so I've been working with her on gymnastics and such for about an hour a day, and she's really getting somewhere that she didn't think she was capable of a few weeks ago. And now my dad says "Oh wait, haha sorry I can't pay for you anymore." Wtf?

Gah. I really hope things work out.

Do not try to bend the spoon. That's impossible. Instead, try to realize the truth. There is no spoon. Then you will see that it is not the spoon that bends, it is only yourself.

urk gay thing cut off again x_x anyways, rest of what i wrote: well, if you were a christian, i'd probably tell you to pray ^_^;; but yeah i'm not sure if you are, so all i can say is, i'm sure it'll work out in the end.

i'm not sure why your dad randomly decided not to pay for you anymore, but if you really love the sport that much i'm sure he'll see how much you wanna go there and pay for you in the end =D

although a job sounds like a pretty good idea =3 you get money, AND work experience, AND independance! (something which i definately need ^^;; =/) and you dont have to get your mum to take you, can't you get a bus...? =3

anyways, i guess all i can do is say best of luck!!!

Long one coming!
Wow, that is a lot of money. But you're serious about the sport, yes? As long as you plan and prioritize so you can handle SATs, college, etc. But if you can't (plus the expenses needed), it may be better to drop jump rope. >.< Sorry, I had to say it.
Regarding philosophy: Most of what you said, I already know/thought about in past "thinking sessions" (don't know how to describe it...). And besides, I do have history class! So expect more philosophies!

oops...
Sorry. It was supposed to be a long one, but they threatened to bash my head in if I didn't get offline. Don't ask who 'they' are.
Now that I'm back, I have nothing to say. The short one summed it up. I guess there was no need for a long one...
