Okay, so Macbeth is kinda just a mindless pet at first and then he's lied to...? And is acting for himself...? He's taking more initiative but it ends up with his self-destruction because his choice was bad...

I wouldn't say "criticized as", unless he's being criticized for literally being a cat. Maybe "compared to"?

Verbally decieved as a lion? The last clause is OK, I think, but the "thus extends" part is confusing because I don't understand what it's saying, either.
