Can anyone tell me whats the difference betn posting a new writing and writing a new blog entry ??

A new writing goes in your reading area, it's good for things like poems and stories and such. It's not automatically displayed to people who come to your blog.

A blog entry is more or less the "front page" (unless you have your account set to profile as main page), and that is where that entry will go.
