PreFlection: An example of political imagination is a political cartoon.
Political imagination is where a person uses a creative way to get a point or opinion across to the public. A political cartoon is a good way to do that because some people don't actually read the newspaper, but a cartoon might catch their eye and they would stop for a minute to look at it.

PostDiscussion: After discussing political imagination in class I still think political cartoons are a good example of political imagination, but some of them might not quite work. The point of political imagination is to put a point of view across to the public, and it needs to be realistic. Some political cartoons are unrealistic and even though it might be ideal, it is not practical, or it could never happen. But on the other hand, it might be a good idea to present an idea that is way over the top to the public so they will think about it and try to come up with an actual solution. They could meet the idea half way. I know that sometimes people tell me to do something, but instead of doing it, I will compromise and do part of what they were saying.

To summarize political imagination I would say that it basically is trying to make what is ideal, real and conveying an idea that sticks in the minds of the public! We need to reimagine our current reality to more nearly match what we want our society to be. Political Imagination can include propaganda, creativity, action, positive energy, and goal setting.

How I used this:: I used this when we were doing our speech projects. we had to convey a message that sticks in the minds of the public, in the words that i said earlier. and we decided to come up with a way to do that with our safe cosmetics campaign. so we decided to go to the mall and set up a stand to show the public that this is serious and hopefully come up with a good way to make the girls we are targeting remember this and convey this message in a way that is easy to understand and clear to them.

Erica--in general your blog is on track. You don't have a passing grade right now because you don't have the 4th part, application of the AOD to your day to day life. You can start adding this, and catch up by doing two a week rather than just one. Your class notes are good, but try to get more out of your media sources to teach yourself more about the AOD before class. Getting more analytical in your blog can take a C blog to an A or B.
