PreFlection: The article I printed out that demonstrated negotiation, is about emergency communication. During September 11th the police and the firefighters couldn’t contact each other, and that made Dave Reichert realize that more money and effort need to be put into emergency communications incase something like that happened again. The article also says that he made “reasonable compromises” to get the bill for more funding for emergence communication passed. I think that compromise and negotiation are basically the same thing. Negotiation and compromise are both where you give something to another person that they want, in return for something you want. Also this article demonstrates the process of negotiation. Reichert was the chair in 4 hearings to discuss this matter. The negotiations took place the first time and he got 3.1 million dollars. Then it was taken back during later negotiations.

PostClass:After we had our conversation in class, I definetly feel like I have a better understanding of what negotiation is. As I thought about it, I realized how much we use negotiation in our everyday life without really even acknowledging it.

How i used it:After hearing all those tips on how to negotiate I decided I would use them to try to get my parnents to go out to lunch and pay. =] My parents usually want me to get my homework done early in the day so i'm not up late doing it. So I said that I would do my homework all right when we get home if they took me out to lunch. In the end, it worked and now i'm stuck spending my afternoon doing all the rest of my work.
