Yesterday morning I ran 140th day of 2008 In a 5k race at San Carlos Hometown Days. We ran all over SC. Up hills. Down hills. Through neighborhoods. Through streets being monitored by police men. I started off pretty strong. For the first mile I was in the front 60 group. But then I started to slowwwwww down. I blame it on my knee braces. They hold me down. haha. And when I run I can't breath for some reason. So lack of oxygen might have been a problem. During the last half mile which was around the park we were supposed to end at I seriously felt like I was going to die. I had to stop and lean against a car for like a minute before I started running again. I ended up coming 12th in my division out of God knows how many. The 11th place girl was only 30 seconds ahead of me (which makes me wish I didn't take the break). I was surprised that I was even able to do it though. I had been planning on walking most of it. The last time I even ran a mile was four years ago. However, looking back on yesterday I wish I had done the 10k. I mean, I could have just walked the last three miles. And I would have come in first because no one from the 13-15 division tried it. I think I missed my one chance at a first place because next year I'll be in the 16-18 division and theres probably gonna be some girls doing 10k at that age. Oh well. Oh, ps; I'm totally burnt (I've only been sun burnt one other time in my life) and I can't move my legs at all today. Till the sun burns, Jen. 3 Comments.
