Day in the Life: Hitting the Slopes
Wednesday. 12.29.04 8:29 pm
One of the most exciting and no doubt most obvious traditions of winter is skiing. This past Tuesday, my parents finally decided to jump on the ol' American bandwagon and go on a ski trip! Note: we were going with a group so rentals and lift tickets were cheap. When we hit the slopes, I could barely even put my skis on. But, as I progressed, I gathered up the courage to go on a green slope. Fell on my ass a bunch of times, but in the end it was worth it. After a bit, my friends persuaded me to rocket down a blue slope. When I looked down the hill however, I saw a intimidating incline. Shit... I can't go down one of those. But i couldn't turn back now, i had to prove myself... and I didn't know how to walk uphil with skis. Ha... so here we go. Oh what a mother of a ride it was, flying down the slopes, not being able to stop, then falling. That went on for a few times before I was able to really get a grip on things. For the rest of the day, I went on the blue slopes and slowly began to master them. After lunch, I barely fell! So, it was after a fine day of fun, excitement and a beating on the arse that I realized the joy of skiing.
By the way, my dad fell even more than me. He twisted his knee and can hardly walk now. Well, can only blame himself.
Until then, I'll be seeing you guys with my ass in the snow, and my skiis in a row.
