Dessert Kits Suck.
Sunday. 12.5.04 5:45 pm
I'm sure you all are like, "WTF is a dessert kit?" or "My god, she's posting again!" One of the two. Anyway, a dessert kit is one of those 'handy' and 'easy to make' box kits filled with most of the ingredients to make some random dessert. My mom go one for something called 'Peanut Butter Passion'. It looks nice, this three layered, marble topped peanutbutter and chocolate dessert. On the box, that is. Mine... well... the top doesn't look so good, but the rest should be alright.

The first step was to mix what looked like a graham cracker type substance with some oil and water and press the resulting stuff into a 8 X 8 pan. That wasn't too bad, the pressing was kind of annoying, cause the mixtue (which ends up smelling like peanut butter, BTW) was sticking to my hands as I mixed it. So I pop this in the oven for about 13 mins. Totally unrelated, but I spent the 13 minutes trimming Lucifer's claws. She too old and lazy to scratch,s o her claws are starting to grow down to har pads. She was rewarded for her (relativley) good behavior (she only tried to bite me one, and only cried alot near the end) with some kitty treats and a dish of Half and Half.

Anyway, soon this crazy mix is done, so I pull it out and go to the next step. Making some chocolate stuff. What needs to be done is to heat the contents of a can of condensed milk, a bag of chocolate chips, and some butter for 1 minute on med-high (wtf?) and stir and do some other stuff. Well, I had to fight the damned can of condensed milk to get it open, of course droppping the can lid into the milk. Icky. I get it all into a bowl. Next i dump in the chips, then the butter. Might I note, I'm using a cereal type bowl, so it;s pretty full now. So I toss it into the microwave, set 1 min, and the power to 6 (med-high?) and turn it on. I watch, and around :25 min, the milk starts ot bubble. Alot. I didn't like it. "Maybe it needs to be stirred." I thought. So I opened the microwave and grabbed the bowl quick and pulled it out.

Here are 2 things I reget doing. 1. Not using a larger bowl. 2. grabbing a cereal bowl filled with probably boiling condensed milk, chocolate and butter out of the microwave quickly. Some of this mixture sloshed out onto the floor, counter, and yes, my arm and hand. My responce: "AHHHHH! HOT!" *puts bowl down quick, hold up hand, covered in hot milk and melted chocolate chips* "BURNING! HOT! AHHH!!" *shoves hand and arm under water in the sink* So, I mildly burnt my hand and arm ( and got shit all over the place. It hurt. It still kinda hurts. BUt stirring it then was no help. I put it all back in the microwave, finished the heating then stirred it until it smoothed out, and put some on the stuff I made and put it back in the oven for a bit.

Mixing peanut butter with stuff is not fun. Mixing peanut butter with confectioner's sugar is downright messy. Anyway, after the chcolate thing, not much else was bad, just annoying. Like trying to marble some extra chocolate mix with the slightly melted peanut butter/sugar mix. That looks like crap. Just imagine mixing some melted chocolate with peanut butter. That's what the top of this thing looks like. But it should taste good. It better. I got burnt.

Anyway, that's it from me for now.
