Tomorrow is Edward's birthday! I got him Ming Tsai's One Pot cookbook, a fancy pepper grinder, a mortar and pestle and a whiskey decanter with a ship etched on it that I found antiquing the other day. I don't really know if he wants a whiskey decanter, but I really liked it so he's getting it.

Edward's going to be 29 and he's not super excited about. I'll be 29 in May and I'm not super excited about it. 29 seems like a dumb age.

I'm also taking him to his favorite pizza place, yay.

On Valentine's Day, we snagged tickets to a showing at our favorite theater of David Lynch's Wild at Heart. For $25, you get two tickets, two boxes of chocolate and a bottle of champagne. YAY. I've never seen Wild at Heart and I have kind of a love/hate relationship with David Lynch. (Love Twin Peaks and Blue Velvet, hate Lost Highway and I think I hate Mulholland Drive? I don't know I'm still too confused by it to really know.)

So I'm really looking forward to tomorrow and Thursday. It's been hard for me to concentrate at work, I just want Wednesday to BE HERE.

And, we're hoping to head out to Maupin in central Oregon this weekend. Maupin is a really small (like 100 people small) town on the Deschutes River. My parents have a house out there so my retired dad can fly fish to his heart's content. It's just so quiet and peaceful. No TV, computers, cell phone service... Also, kind of scary, no police department. There's NOTHING there.

But my parents accidentally broke their hot water heater. So if it's not fixed by Friday, it's a no go. If we can't do that, I'm going to book us a room at some Oregon hot springs next week I think to make up for it.

Wow, that sounds like an awesome Valentine's Day deal. I wish we had something like that here. Well, maybe not the champagne, but the chocolates and the tickets, definitely.

That sounds like a great deal! I wanted to go to a burlesque show for Valentine's Day, but the tickets are $25 a piece and I don't get paid till next week. Oh well. This won't be the only burlesque show this year and I'm sure the Valentine's special show will be back again next year. Fingers crossed that you'll be able to go to the town in the middle of nowhere =)
