Edward and I went to the laundromat today to wash our big stuff, like comforters and winter blankets. After throwing everything into the dryer we decided to go for a walk to kill the time.

The landromat is in a residential neighborhood so we were just taking our time looking at houses and enjoying the fact that it wasn't raining in Portland. I eventually noticed there was a guy some distance behind us who was gradually starting to catch up with us.

After about five minutes, when he was about ten feet behind us, we decided to cross the street. We waited for some traffic to go by, crossed and then stood there for a minute trying to decide which direction we should go. I noticed that the guy also crossed the street, walked a few feet passed us, then ALSO stopped and stood there, like he ws waiting for us to go. I thought it was kind of weird. He started walking east, away from us (but had to walk past us again, and he got super close when he walked by!) so we decided to head west. Edward glanced back and the guy had changed detection and was following us again! I was slightly irritated and very wary of the guy at this point because it really did seem like he was just following us. So we sped up then took a quick left down a smaller side street hoping he'd just continue on his way. But no! He also turned left and kept right on following us. Edward was slightly weirded out by this point too and was considering whether he should ask the guy if there was something he wanted or if we should just get back to the laundromat. Just as we were about to come up to the main street, where the laundromat was (just a few blocks down) they guy suddenly disappeared. We zigzagged around a little bit, then headed back to the laundromat. We didn't end up seeing him again, thank goodness.

Do you guys think we were being paranoid? or was that guy totally weird? Keep in mind there was nobody else walking around the neighborhood we were in. it was just us and the guy. I think it was really weird and wonder if he was either on drugs or wanted to grab my purse (which is humongous). Or if he was just a weird dude randomly following some people around and didn't realize they knew what he was doing. Or maybe he was lost. Or maybe the whole thing was just a weird coincidence. Whatever it was I didn't like it.

Normally I think I have good instincts, but looking back turning down a small side street and entertaining the idea of talking to the guy both seem like really stupid ideas. And speaking of instinct, it was weird how we could both feel his presence when he was walking behind us, and then both noticed right away when he wasn't there anymore.

Wow, that's creepy. It would be one thing if he was just going in the same general direction as you, but crossing the street to keep following behind you.... yeesh.

Did you guys feel kind of sad when he finally stopped following you?

That is really creepy. At least Edward was with you and neither of you was alone. And for some reason it completely slipped my mind that you lived in Portland so now I have yet another 'Tanger to meet when I eventually make my way down to Portland =)
