Hey all,
I've been thinking of starting another community, one dedicated to music fans. I'd like to get everyone's opinions.

In this site, you would be able to list your favourite artists and bands. Then, the site would determine what other members have strong, similar music tastes. It would output an actual percentage associated with the likeliness of their musical tastes.

Thoughts, ideas, criticisms?

Can it be a subsection of Nutang? My link bar is getting REALLY full. :P

If you could link band sites to the bands listed... that would be great.

This will actually be a separate site. However, I will be offering the initial beta testing to NuTang members.

Yup, that's a good idea. Each band will have a band page w/ its own discussion board. Members can also submit related news links.

Abt linking bandsites: There are so many different bands out there and dave would have to ask for linkage to ALL of them...0.o Hmm, a bit of a hassle, eh?

--Er, nevermind. Link bar=Favorites bar, a place to bookmark sites, etc...

Well I just call it the link bar. In IE the bar below the address bar labeled "Links".

I think that sounds like a very interesting idea. I like... instrumental music for the most part so not sure how well that would work for me, but still, I would be more than willing to help out and try it out.

A lot of the content for the band pages will be submitted by members and probably approved by moderators. Any volunteers for moderators?

It think it sounds like a good idea. Everyone likes different music so it would be interesting to see the bands that are approved and listed. :)

Oh you know that I'd moderate. Music = My LIfe haha And I'd give the whole thing a go and see how I 'rate' with everyone else. Although I'd be superior.

Pardon me for pooping on the party, but in all honesty, to me, it doesn't seem that interesting.

Mind you I LOVE music, of all sorts actually, but I don't care what any of my friends like. Most of my friends and I never really agree on music.

But if everyone else seems to think it's a great idea, than by jove!, go for it!

Thanks for volunteering. You wouldn't be 'rated,' but merely 'matched' to others w/ similar tastes.

There will hopefully be 2 main selling points to the site. First, the social aspect w/ the social networking community side. Secondly, after members start contributing (adding bands, reviews, news articles), there will be the content/informational aspect for people to check out.
