One for the ages!
Tuesday, January 9, 2007
So the Eagles made me proud again! A last second field goal by David Akers won the game to move on to the Division Playoff game against the Saints in New Orleans. If we win that, we will either play the Bears in Chicago or the Seattle Seahawks here in Philadelphia. I was reading in the news about something that smelled like natural gas being smelled all over NYC. I said that it was the smell of their Giants returning from Philadelphia! I'm funny.

Today we have a division meeting in my store. It's the monthly meeting which takes place in a different store each month and this time it's my store. From what I hear it may be only my Division Manager and one other rep aside from myself. And we're supposed to have reps from two different companies that we represent in the store where they usually just give us more information on their company and reinforce anything that they need us to know. They also tend to critique how their stuff looks in the store where we are meeting so that could be interesting for me. We used to be able to leave to go back to our own stores after meetings were over but now we're beaconed into that store for the entire shift which doesn't matter to me since it's my store...it just means that whomever is at the meeting will be staying there all day. I hope that we'll work on special project like we did last month because it'd help me get some of my projects done for the month. I am attempting..and should succeed in...getting to work about an hour + earlier than I usually do so I can get out of there ealier and not have to spend the extra time with my DM because she should be getting there about an hour after I intend to be there.

I think that's it already. Not much of anything interesting occured...just hoping that I make it through today with what's left of my sanity intact. Wish me luck on that one.

Have a great day.
Over. Out.

Resolution: Zero
Sunday, January 7, 2007
In my blog journies today I've seen a lot about resolutions. New Years Resolutions. Which of course makes sense. And I haven't discussed mine since I hadn't posted often enough around the holidays with general holiday busyness and the illness/cellulitis returning. But I am going to hit upon it now. My resolution.

I have declined the option of setting a New Years Resolution this year. I am not going to be one of those people that states, "Well I will end up breaking my resolution in a week or two so I am not going to bother even making one this year.". That is not the case that I am stating in this matter.

In all honesty...anything I could name would be a long-term, life-long goal anyway. Not something to simply focus on for a year until I make a resolution of another long-term goal the following year. The closest I will get to a resolution this year is to work on my debt. Now this is not something that I could take care of this year alone...without hitting it BIG in the lottery... but I can lay the foundation to getting this going.

Jenn and I will set up a savings account associated with our joint checking account. Any month that we have extra money in our checking account after rent we can have put into the savings account. Any extra money that I may happen to have here and there can also go in there. And I would want to put any money that we make from freelance work (web design, photography, web-based programming, videography, etc...) can go into the account and accrue interest on it.

I will have to start paying my student loan back by the end of the month to ensure that I get my full tax refund. If we need a little of it for rent (which we shouldn't) I'd like to put a bit of it into my student loan perhaps to cut it down some (but I may not if I have no problems making my monthly payment to them. I'd put the rest of it into our savings account to go towards a new(er) car or whatever.

If nothing else financially this year...atleast try to set things up so that I can make huge dents in it the next couple/few years. And that's about it for a resolution.

Aside from that...not a ton to report on. Had a pretty good practice today without a drummer. Although one of the new interns at the studio where we practice plays drums (he said that he'd love to join the band to play with us but he doesn't have the time unfortunately) and he jumped in on two of our songs including an absolutely brand new one that hasn't had drumming to it yet. It gave us a good idea of how it could all sound together and we're quite pleased. Now to find a drummer.

We came home and watched football this evening. Wild Card Weekend! We were hoping that the Chiefs would take out the Colts. What a miserable game. And the Colts pulled it out. Now the second game went our way. The Seahawks beat the Cowboys! It was the opposite...a very exciting game that literally came down to the last play/snap of the game. I really wanted the Cowboys out. But of course I wonder about the Eagles having beat them twice this season and all that and not having played Seattle yet this season. And the Seahawks being the reigning NFC Champions. But we were still very happy with the outcome!

After our errands tomorrow (to discuss in a moment) we will be watching the Eagles/Giants game!!! The game is here in Philadelphia (even though both stadiums are rediculously close together in the grand scheme of things). We've split the season's matchups at 1 and 1. The Giants somehow pulled off the come-from-behind victory early in the season on our turf. And we beat them three weeks ago (it was three right? ha) on their turf to continue our win streak which included three consecutive division road games. We faced all three teams in our divisions in their stadiums in three consecutive weeks. And how did we fare? Damned well since we won them and two of those teams made it to the playoffs (somehow it worked out that the Giants actually made it into the playoffs after ending the regular season with only a .500 record...8-8...). So excited for the game! Make us proud boys!

But before the game Jenn and I have some running around to do. First up is Wal-Mart to return a couple of items that my mom bought me. One is a facial hair trimming system with lots of attachments. It works amazingly well. And I know this because I had bought myself the very same one about 5 months ago haha She tried to be sneaky and had Rob ask me if I shaved with a razor or an electric shaver. I said that I use a razor but then use an electric trimmer to maintain the facial hair that I do want to keep. He must have missed that part since she bought me one. But I raved about how much I love it and he ended up getting one from her so he was more excited about getting it haha And then I had asked for a drill bit set for my work drill. Now unfortunately I didn't elaborate and she bought me a set of actual drill bits. Which are great but I forgot to include that more important to me for my job are screwdriver bits that go into a drill. I use those soooo often at work and I can't find the few/crappy ones my company had given me with the drill. I will get cash back with both of those hopefully since I have the receipt.

And then we go to the Home Depot that I service to pick up some packing boxes to finish putting Christmas stuff away. We bought so much stuff this year that we need to buy more boxes to actually store them all haha And then I will buy a drill/screwdriver set there. I know that I have many options and there are two that I really like. One is about $10 and the other is just under $20. I think I am aiming for the $20 because it does have more pieces that I would need at some point (if not quite often) and the case is much stronger/sturdier. I will probably just keep the money from the trimmer for now because I need to make sure that I'll have enough money to get through work (gas and all that lovely stuff).

And then we'll go to Target to use the gift cards we got from there. I believe we had two $25 cards so we'll see what we can get. If I use one of them for something else, I may atleast get myself another pair of pants that I can wear for work (praying that they still have some on sale...will probably take a glance when at Wal-Mart to see what they have and maybe put the money from the trimmer towards those) since it hasn't even gotten cold yet and I can't wear shorts for another 5 months =0(

So all-in-all it should be a fun day. If you love the Eagles...or...have no preference...pull for the Eagles with me! Root for them like they're yours!

Well I need to get to bed! But have a great Sunday and I'll catch you all before you know it!
