So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

Anna finished tying the long laces on her Converse sneakers. Converse sneakers, pinnacles of sneaker-design, were flat at the ends, and thus facilitated standing on ones toes at all times. En pointe! Flat! En pointe! Flat! En pointe! Flat! Stop that! said Mother, who was trying to run a hairbrush through Annas hair. Ow, said Anna. Ow. Ow. Ow. Ow. Ow. Ow. Ow. Ow. Where is your sister? Mother asked again. Anna shrugged. Mother was not placated by this response. She wanted her sister found, and wanted Anna to find her. Much to Annas luck, the phone rang. Mother picked up the phone and Anna listened very carefully. It was the father of the next-door-neighbors. Your daughter Elizabeth is here, he said, we wanted to ask if it was all right for her to sleep over tonight. Mother seemed hesitant. That sounds fine, she answered, can I talk to her? Shes out swimming at the moment, would you like me to go and get her? he answered. Mother responded that it wasnt necessary and hung up the phone. Well, I was going to go to the bank, she said. Do you want to go next door and play with your sister, or do you want to go to the bank with me? Anna didnt have to think very hard about that. Sisters were sisters, but The Bank had a Candy Machine. 7 Comments. interesting :D » jolenesiah on 2010-03-20 09:26:53 That kind of makes me think of, when we were kids, my younger siblings and I would decide which fast food chain we wanted to get lunch from based upon what toy they were offering in the kid's meal. Kids » invisible on 2010-03-21 02:35:55 I thought you were talking about the movie My Sister's Keeper... or maybe you are and I must've not remembered the scene. » Nuttz on 2010-03-21 02:55:40 ^could be from the book. *shrug* i liked this particular event. perhaps since i work at a bank, i can get kids to like me if i give them lots of candy. » thaitanic on 2010-03-21 08:27:05 yeah, whenever anyone asks "Where is your sister?" or "Where is your brother?" it makes me think of Cain and Abel and Cain responding to God, "Am I my brother's keeper?" I'm guessing that that was the same reference the author was making in 'My Sister's Keeper'. So this is a story I've been making up, but the theme of this part of the story made me think of that line. » Zanzibar on 2010-03-21 08:51:33 This idea has become outdated Now all is clear, I thank for the information. xanax prescription online Thanks for support. xanax .5mg I thank for the information, now I will know. buy cheap xanax online It is easier to tell, than to make. buy ultram Not clearly buy meridia online 7de620 » Jarod (190.202.87.131) on 2011-06-07 03:54:31 And how in that case to act?
