Bullshit!
This weekend I watched How to lose a guy in 10 days. I know I'm really late at watching this movie considering how long it's been out and on TV. Any ways, towards the later part of the movie they are playing a card game called Bullshit. I couldn't help, but smile. While I've never played the card version I did get to play the dice version of the game when I was 18. It was incredibly fun and one of my fondest memories around that age so I'll share it.
I was working at a restaurant that's privately owned. Although you wouldn't think so, a lot of the restaurant's clients have very deep pockets. Looks are very deceiving since they normally come in jeans and a nice shirt. Well one of our regulars came in with a friend that had moved to another country, England I think. I was a lot nicer back then so it's pretty understandable that they liked me. (Reality and experience has made me a lot more unfriendly when my guard is up.) Anyways it was my birthday and I had nothing planned. When they found out they told me to hang out with them after my shift was over. I was happy to be invited since they were really cool people. When my shift was over, the restaurant was closed since it was about 11 at night, I joined them on the patio. In order to really celebrate they bought the most expensive red wine in the place since I like red wine a lot.
Soon enough after enough talking and wine we decided to pair up and play Bullshit, but with dice. Calling out for some dice and another bottle of wine I paired up with their friend and they were together. Since my mom has a more relaxed view on drinking at that age my tolerance was very high so I was just buzzed and giggly. We played until well past midnight and only left because we were pretty much kicked out by the owner. I didn't blame him since he was the only one left, the bartender was told she could go home, and he still had to open at 11 for lunch. I no longer remember their names, but I will always remember how fun that birthday was for me.
How to play the game: Put 5 dice in a dice cup thing, shake and put open side down on the table. Check your dice and then you bullshit about how great your roll is.
Review on the movie:
While I like the movie a lot it is nothing special to me. Maybe it's because the plot is very basic and with the other movies, TV shows, manga, anime and dramas I've seen as soon as I saw the beginning I knew what would happen. A bet is wagered. They fall in love. The bet is found out. They end up together anyways. Despite knowing this I still watched since some movies are made for pure entertainment, like this one. The acting is good, the cast is strong and while the plot is simple the movie is put in its' own twists to make it eventful.
While I'm glad I didn't spend a bunch of money to see it in the theater it's well worth buying if you're into these kinds of movies.
I've watched the show but I don't remember the game.. Maybe I should go watch it again.
