Gullible.
Now I have never thought of myself as a gullible person, but a trusting person. If a person has my trust they have it completely. If they tell me something I believe them. There is no self doubt or wondering if they are lying to me. I trust them. If you have doubt in a person then you don't really trust them.
Yesterday at work I was scanning, I know I'm a bit surprised how caught up I am too, and the light that used to only turn off and on every once in a great while started doing it every minute to two minutes. It was driving me insane. I asked my co-worker who has the cubical under the light if it bothered him. He said it was annoying, but there was a call to our landlord so he just had to wait, but he wished my boss would just take out the light bulbs. My co-worker is a very nice guy. He's new...
So anyways I happened to be walking by my boss' office and decided to bring up the subject. It never hurts to ask, unless it's a dumb question and you'll look stupid in the end. I told my boss how the light goes on and off. He said there was a work order in for it. I said how annoying it was. He said how my co-worker was fine with it so why am I concerned. I told him how it annoyed me at the scanner (the cubical next to my co-worker's) and how no my co-worker is not "fine" with it and wishes it would stop, he's just too nice to say anything. Then he asked what that made me since I brought it up. It takes me a minute to realize that he's politely saying I'm pushy. I let him know that I am just a well seasoned employee. I was nice too when I first joined the company and thought me telling them something was wrong meant "Please fix it as soon as you have time to.", but it didn't. What it really means is that something is broken, but I can live with it thought you might want to know. HUGE difference. He asks if we can wait until July, it can't be that bad. My last comment to him before I left was me laughing while saying, "You only say that because it's not a light above YOUR desk turning off and on ever 2 minutes."
I leave his office thinking he'll wait until the land lord sends someone out to fix the problem. I guess my last comment worked though since as soon as I finished telling my co-worker what I did my boss was over with some tools in hand to see if he could fix the problem. Well one of the problems, turned out it wasn't the problem though, was that there were some "live" wires not properly finished. I told him I'd feel bad for bringing it up if he got electricuted since he kept making buzzing noises and said he was glad the cubicals were grounded, since it would take me out too. I leave and end up talking to our new receptionist since she had some questions on what she was processing and stuff. When I come back he had taken out the light bulbs since that wasn't the problem and everything is A-ok.
Now I then notice that our bin next to our scanner is full so I get another co-worker to take it to the shreding bin. I'm putting the papers in when my boss says, "Don't touch the desk, you'll get shocked!" My immediate responce was panic since I had come very close to touching the cubical. When I asked him if he was serious his reply was, "You're so gullible. The cubicals aren't even touching or connected to the lights...ABOVE." I could hear our President chuckling from his office. Everyone has a hobby and I'm his. He says I relieve stress from everyday work occurances since "I'm just so easy." I think he'd prefer if I didn't cause him his stress though since I go into his office at least a couple times a day to ask him something, except Thursday since I was in a bitchy mood which he commented on how at the very end of they day I had only gone in once. When I'm pissy I try to stay away from people otherwise I'm like a bi-polar person not on meds...yeah my moods can go from sunny and bright to dark and dangerous that quickly when I'm in a funk. Why I believed him when he's the one who told me the stitches in my chin were made from cat gut I'll never know. He said and kept a straight face while I freaked out in front of him. I would STILL be thinking that I had cat gut in my chin if it wasn't for my boyfriend who called me stupid for not realizing that PITA would have never let doctors get away with that.
Oh yeah I get home and I'm telling my boyfriend what happened and he tells me I'm not gullible. I start to feel better since he used to say that I was. Then he gets up and says, "Oh yeah I wanted to wash the jeans, can I please have yours?" I take them off and hand them to him. He then starts to laugh and says, "God you ARE gullible! When was the last time I washed clothes?" He hasn't washed clothes in over 3 and a half years. I started washing them when I quit working for 6 months and was at home living the good life. After that he said I did a great job and so I have kept doing them. I sometimes complain, but then he praises me again and so I keep doing them. I'm gullible and stupid...I have a feeling I trust the wrong people sometimes...
Man! That is sucky what they did.
Both your coworker and boyfriend. I know they both meant it in jest, but sometimes enough is enough.
And personally, trusting people should never be a negative trait.

Aww.. They're mean! They somehow will get away with things.. Either by saying that you're gullible or that you're too serious. Don't worry, being like that is not bad.. at least when the time comes, you'll still trust the person when no one else does.
