A few words
"When we describe the Moon as dead, we are describing the deadness in ourselves. When we find space so hideously void, we are describing our own unbearable emptiness." ~ D.H. Lawrence "Is the meaning of life defined by its duration? Or does life have a purpose so large that it doesn't have to be prolonged at any cost to preserve its meaning?" "Living is not good, but living well. The wise man, therefore, lives as well as he should, not as long as he can... He will always think of life in terms of quality not quantity... Dying early or late is of no relevance, dying well or ill is... even if it is true that while there is life there is hope, life is not to be bought at any cost." ~ Seneca "People will tell you nothing matters, the whole world's about to end soon anyway. Those people are looking at life the wrong way. I mean, things don't need to last forever to be perfect." ~ Daydream Nation "All Bette's stories have happy endings. That's because she knows where to stop. She's realized the real problem with stories-- if you keep them going long enough, they always end in death." ~ The Sandman: Preludes & Nocturnes "The road now stretched across open country, and it occurred to me - not by way of protest, not as a symbol, or anything like that, but merely as a novel experience - that since I had disregarded all laws of humanity, I might as well disregard the rules of traffic. So I crossed to the left side of the highway and checked the feeling, and the feeling was good. It was a pleasant diaphragmal melting, with elements of diffused tactility, all this enhanced by the thought that nothing could be nearer to the elimination of basic physical laws than deliberately driving on the wrong site of the road." ~ Vladimir Nabokov, Lolita "It is easier to forgive an enemy than to forgive a friend." ~ William Blake Think about it Musicalities! Awesome boyfriend for the win!!!! That's spectacularly wonderful of him to do that for the two of you. I'm excited for you! Lol. re: it's illegal for me to work more than 16 hours in a row, with less than 8 hours in between shifts worked. So because I got off work last night at 10 and didn't have to be back until 6, 8 hours later, it's not illegal. I just keep reminding myself how awesome my paycheck will be lol. » LostSoul13 on 2013-04-03 10:20:27 Oh snap, your boyfriend knows about your blog? What are you guys like married now or something? I think even if I get married I probably wouldn't tell my guy about my blog..... obviously if he asked if I had one I wouldn't lie, but yah know. I don't know what to say about friends. I get really close to my friends, but in different ways. Sometimes we are really well-matched as far as activities we like to do, so we do everything together all the time. Sometimes we're better matched intellectually, so we have super deep conversations but we never "hang out". Usually the super-deep conversation people are the ones that I keep track of, only because we can continue to have super-deep conversations over email. The friends that I like hanging out with all the time I never contact, but the next time we see each other it is like no time has gone by. I also don't really seem to miss people in the same way that others do... I enjoy them, and I think about them, I love them, but I don't miss them in a gut way. I bet there is a high probability that if you contacted this friend and told her you'd be in NYC, that she'd be like, "No wayyyy we should hang out" and if you two hung out alone it would be like old times. All that to say that if she forgets to call you back or goes long periods without writing it doesn't mean that she didn't/doesn't value your friendship. » Zanzibar on 2013-04-04 03:26:35 Ah, well, what can you do. My whole family reads my blog now, because its secret was revealed to them at some point or another... which is fine because, as you say, I'm pretty open with them anyway, but awkward sometimes. Like when I want to write about something very dangerous that I did or am planning to do but I don't want my parents to worry about me. Or I want to write about one of them but I'm not trying to 'send a message' to them indirectly. » Zanzibar on 2013-04-04 06:13:37 hmmm... well people change as time flies. i thought i have a lot of friends, and ended up i'm alone. and i'm ok coz i like to be alone... ooh. ur bf is awesome! » renaye on 2013-04-04 12:01:14 I think...everyone handles friendship differently, and that's why some people become really close, and some grow apart. Maybe it's because friendship is so strongly about trust and mutuality. Anyway, that's AWESOME about your trip to New York. » Unicornasaurus on 2013-04-04 09:07:04
