A few words
"When we describe the Moon as dead, we are describing the deadness in ourselves. When we find space so hideously void, we are describing our own unbearable emptiness." ~ D.H. Lawrence "Is the meaning of life defined by its duration? Or does life have a purpose so large that it doesn't have to be prolonged at any cost to preserve its meaning?" "Living is not good, but living well. The wise man, therefore, lives as well as he should, not as long as he can... He will always think of life in terms of quality not quantity... Dying early or late is of no relevance, dying well or ill is... even if it is true that while there is life there is hope, life is not to be bought at any cost." ~ Seneca "People will tell you nothing matters, the whole world's about to end soon anyway. Those people are looking at life the wrong way. I mean, things don't need to last forever to be perfect." ~ Daydream Nation "All Bette's stories have happy endings. That's because she knows where to stop. She's realized the real problem with stories-- if you keep them going long enough, they always end in death." ~ The Sandman: Preludes & Nocturnes "The road now stretched across open country, and it occurred to me - not by way of protest, not as a symbol, or anything like that, but merely as a novel experience - that since I had disregarded all laws of humanity, I might as well disregard the rules of traffic. So I crossed to the left side of the highway and checked the feeling, and the feeling was good. It was a pleasant diaphragmal melting, with elements of diffused tactility, all this enhanced by the thought that nothing could be nearer to the elimination of basic physical laws than deliberately driving on the wrong site of the road." ~ Vladimir Nabokov, Lolita "It is easier to forgive an enemy than to forgive a friend." ~ William Blake Think about it Musicalities! Although at the same time, they'd probably want to put me on meds, so maybe not. All the descriptions say symptoms should be enough to "interfere with daily life" but I'm not even sure what that means anymore. I don't remember what it's like to NOT deal with this, but I'm still going about my life, so...? Pretty sure I at least have a mild chronic form, though I've certainly experienced some major episodes before. Kind of sad that I only care that I have depression because it seems to be preventing me from choosing a major... 7 Comments. Not wanting to be on medication is the reason I'm avoiding talking to my primary doc about my depression. I get what you're saying, though. It's just become such a part of daily life that you don't even know if its specifically changing something. I hope you're able to pick a major soon. And that this depression gets better soon. » LostSoul13 on 2011-08-18 03:03:11 Sort of...depressing, yeah? » middaymoon on 2011-08-18 09:32:00 I understand that the prospect of getting medicated is scary, but if there's a chemical imbalance in your brain you definitely want to get it checked out. All people ever hear are the horror stories of depression meds, when in all actuality they have helped so, so many people that truly needed help. I think you should definitely talk to someone. » Amelie on 2011-08-18 11:56:46 maybe you just need to talk to someone. my uncle was prescribed medication for mild depression when he was in his fifties (never thought anything was wrong until that age). He also saw a therapist. Eventually he learned to cope with his problems without pills or the doctor. Sometimes you just need a push in the right direction. » Amelie on 2011-08-18 04:53:51 huh. That may be the most optimistic thing I've ever witnessed you saying. » middaymoon on 2011-08-19 06:43:34 Interesting! That leaves, what, 20% for sunshine and smiles? » middaymoon on 2011-08-19 07:48:58 I can feel your thumbs upping from here! » Amelie on 2011-08-19 07:53:11
