A few words
"When we describe the Moon as dead, we are describing the deadness in ourselves. When we find space so hideously void, we are describing our own unbearable emptiness." ~ D.H. Lawrence "Is the meaning of life defined by its duration? Or does life have a purpose so large that it doesn't have to be prolonged at any cost to preserve its meaning?" "Living is not good, but living well. The wise man, therefore, lives as well as he should, not as long as he can... He will always think of life in terms of quality not quantity... Dying early or late is of no relevance, dying well or ill is... even if it is true that while there is life there is hope, life is not to be bought at any cost." ~ Seneca "People will tell you nothing matters, the whole world's about to end soon anyway. Those people are looking at life the wrong way. I mean, things don't need to last forever to be perfect." ~ Daydream Nation "All Bette's stories have happy endings. That's because she knows where to stop. She's realized the real problem with stories-- if you keep them going long enough, they always end in death." ~ The Sandman: Preludes & Nocturnes "The road now stretched across open country, and it occurred to me - not by way of protest, not as a symbol, or anything like that, but merely as a novel experience - that since I had disregarded all laws of humanity, I might as well disregard the rules of traffic. So I crossed to the left side of the highway and checked the feeling, and the feeling was good. It was a pleasant diaphragmal melting, with elements of diffused tactility, all this enhanced by the thought that nothing could be nearer to the elimination of basic physical laws than deliberately driving on the wrong site of the road." ~ Vladimir Nabokov, Lolita "It is easier to forgive an enemy than to forgive a friend." ~ William Blake Think about it Musicalities! Jhonen Vasquez's site Overheard in New York Passive Aggressive Notes Submarinechannel.com Superdickery UHpinions Whirled | Oh, domesticity Monday, October 19, 2009 Phoebe IMed me with some relationship troubles, and we discussed taking it slow and not being too aggressive about starting anything. Then I admitted that I didn't feel like I had a right to give that advice, since, well... if you've read my previous entries you know. So she said "yeah but at least you guys will last," to which I responded "we don't know that." I guess we were typing at the same time, because about half a second later I got "don't forget to invite me to your wedding!" from her. X| This of course led us to the subject of weddings. I want to get married in my early/mid twenties so I can get a headstart on family matters. My parents got married in their early thirties, and even though that promises more financial security, I feel like the age gap between us is pretty noticeable. This is especially evident when it comes to my dad; he rarely has the energy to deal with us... and my mom seems to be going through some sort of mid-life transitional phase? I'm not even sure. I want to try to do the best I can to make my future home and family comfortable (assuming I have a future home/family, that is). My mom has this habit of foisting chores onto me that she doesn't want to do, and I've always resented her a bit for that. I think that if my kids do chores other than the standard stuff like cleaning up after themselves/neatening their rooms, it ought to be voluntary. That way when they do decide to help out, I'll know I've done a good job raising them. I would rather have them work of their own free will than do things because I force them and then resent me afterwards... A lot of the time I feel like I need to be the best person I can in the shortest time possible. I guess this could be due in part to the fact that I always get the sense I'm going to die young. For some reason I tend to obsess over this, and if people are going to say "she was such a good person, it's a shame she died so young," I want them to actually mean it and not say it just because that's what you say when someone dies at a "young" age. Because really, what's the point of lying about someone if they're dead... 2 Comments. Mmm, weddings. Everyone wants to know when Dave and I are going to do it. It's pretty annoying. They ask me, and I'm like ytf would I know? He's the one that's supposed to be all 'zomg i luffs jew don't go away". I think maybe there is some "uh if you say something I will do it" on his part, but I am not cajoned enough to say something. Ah well. The point of lying about dead people? I'm not sure. It angers me when people go on about what a great person so and so was, when so and so was really a jerk. Ugh. I tend to make inappropriate jokes about the dead. My most recent? "well we were worried the guy she was dancing with was going to hurt her the way he was flinging her to and fro, but it wasn't the guy she was dancing with we had to worry about..." » ikimashokie on 2009-10-19 07:39:23 Yay on the letter! :D » middaymoon on 2009-10-19 10:25:58
